how do you hand a race(without killing self) to a horse that can go fast early, and still brain them at the end?

you'll have to lay off the light ale dungy.
stick to water.
in actual fact there are lots of them for her, but EVERY jockey will win more from on pace than they do off pace.

The OzRace Team comment on the ones to follow from the Saturday meeting at BELMONT…
Saturday 17th June 2017
PEARL TRADE
“precocious filly who missed the start before working home late into fourth – still got a lot to learn, but there is definitely motor under the bonnet and when she puts it all together look out – definitely one to watch.” – Chris Blackwell
“Slow getaway proved costly and the slow tempo meant this race was dominated by the on-pace brigade, so she did a reasonable job to finish only 2-1/4 lengths from the winner. Appears to be a filly who’ll be better suited over 1200 metres and if you backed her on Saturday, we recommend you follow your money.” – Thoroheads
RARE COIN
“made an impressive return to city racing when he finished fast to run second over 1600m. It was his first start beyond 1400m and soon he could be suited over even longer journeys. The gelding, competing in provincial races at his three starts leading up to Saturday’s appearance, had won and run two places.” – Ernie Manning
SLIK SAM
“Sharp three-year-old who was a little unlucky first up on Saturday when following the erratic Yeah Dardy in running proved to be problematic. We quite liked the way he lengthened stride in the straight and happy with the way he worked through the line. Expect to see him winning second and/or third up this prep.” – Thoroheads
BELTER
“Super first up run from the Denman 3yo after racing wide for the majority before producing a 34.32 sec final sectional to land a good win – looking for further and undefeated second up so a must follow.” – Chris Blackwell
NEW TIME
“Showed he was on the way back with some encouraging fast trial performances and he confirmed a return to form with a bold front-running first up on Saturday. Set a genuine tempo out in front and held on gamely late, and this run should set him up nicely for the rest of his campaign. Has slid right down in the ratings to 71, after peaking at 93, and we expect to see him winning within his next two starts.” – Thoroheads
LUKE’S GOLD
“is shaping up to record his third Belmont Park victory, judging by the way he rocketed home to run second over 1400m. He went close to repeating the 1200m win he scored on June 3. The gelding, prepared by in-form trainer Vaughn Sigley, looks a feature race hope.” – Ernie Manning
ZARANTZ
“not often you see the fastest final sectional run in a 1600m event, but that’s exactly what this fella produced when a game second to Scales of Justice – screaming out for further and a must follow onto the Strickland Stakes.” – Chris Blackwell
“ran an eye-catching first-up second to Scales Of Justice in the Hyperion Stakes and appears set for a prosperous campaign. The gelding has won eight races, including the Pinjarra Cup, and earned more than $500,000. He should run another big race in Saturday week’s Strickland Stakes (2000m).” – Ernie Manning
HEDLANDER BOY
“We have a bit of time for this fellow and he should be getting close to a peak performances after two runs back from a spell. Is a tough on-pacer and this solid workout should provide him with the right platform to launch at his third and fourth runs this prep.” – Thoroheads.
