40 mill now. One thing i dont get is its the culprit and 1 co accused. Not adding up to me. 2 guys cant be rorting that much through 2 companies only. There has to be others in the background. Jusy my opinion.

bingo. 3rd person charged now. A woman. Not a public servant. I knew there had to be more.

a rort as big as this..and growing has to have at least 6 people actively involved..maybe more. read a public servant has been put on "gardening duties"...

john quigley stating that the new property that RWWA has purchased will be very important in caring for Jake Anthonisz and Paul Whytes horses....

At least two Studs are hoping that this is the case or that they are compensated for the ongoing care. That of course doesn't address the thousands of dollars in unpaid invoices.

I think this matter has a few twists to go yet.

Mr Papalia on abc news saying they hope to sell the horses asap. Was hoping that a large chunk gets absorbed through other syndicate owners

can only be a public auction with the State taking the share under proceeds of crime the remainder would go to those shareholders caught up in this mess by association only

Yes the Paul i knew was initially all about the punt.

From what i know - and i have no idea if the 2 were connected - Dean's mob were far ahead of how the other group worked. Dean was a stats and probabilities man,and had so much back up recorded information that it made it easy to work out which animals should win, on any race they targeted.

I bought it here so that it didn't have an impact on the other thread. I never knew how far Pauls tentacles spread, as he rarely let his guard down in general conversation. But he and his betting associates were very active. I dont think any of that will come out of the investigation, so suggest it will continue to just be speculation...intersting concept though ;-)

So how good was he ? He obviously didn't win enough to pay his outstanding debts.

What is the condition of Mr Whyte? Will he be fit to face trial?

As for the punting, Paul was a small cog in a much bigger wheel. So any success or failure by the group he was in  - too my limited knowledge of that situation - probably wasn't a reflection on him.

Buying, breeding, and racing the horses i think he would have had a greater input on. An he had some good performing horses, but maybe not enough!?!?!?!

Racing no doubt is a major attraction for people with ill gotten gains. I'm sure the industry has been used to launder money since day dot.
When I was a cash punter on track in the 80's and 90's there were always lowlives who would buy your TAB ticket if it were a big collect for a small outlay. Even though they would offer you more than it was worth, I always declined.

I never sensed that when i spoke with him Falc, but i suppose we all judge people different;y.

I've had a conversation with a non horse racing industry...And they threw up several other names that have been discussed during the investigation. None of which i can proves so i cant mention who they are. But it will have an impact on this industry if any of them are linked to this. I just dont know if they are linked to the fraud, or the spending of the money that was fraudulently taken!!!

Once the charges are proven it will be interesting to see if it is fully investigated where the money was spent, in an attempt to recover the money.

The best one by a mile - to come up with an explanation as to how they acquired illgotten gains ( with a racing angle ) has to be Sir Terence Lewis - or just plain old Terry these days - the former Chief Commissioner of Police in Queensland - who ended up doing a lengthy stint in the Can on accepting bribes

At trial - they said to him - this was your annual salary - but you have all these assets - by what means did you acquire them . Now i will give him 100 out of 100 for originality - but i will give him zero out of 100 for believable

Lewis said at the trial - that his Elderly mother used to sit in the grandstand at Eagle Farm and Doomben racecourses - and a jockey - he actually named the jockey - but i cant remember which one . That jockey from the mounting yard would wink to Lewis mother which mounts to put the big cash on - and Terry said that jockey was a great judge - and thats how i accumulated al;l that money

“Mr Whyte and Mr Anthonisz are alleged to have spent the money on racehorses, paying a horse stud service in New Zealand, and personal expenses and bills.”

Taken from an article today. They really want to drive this racing angle

Is there any other angle the slag West media can drive their knives into these 2 backs atm??? At this moment I am convinced Whyte was at the behind them “Sydney” stings at some capacity.

I see "Sydney" have pulled the pin here in WA...no more a table of "you know who's" glued to their computers...waiting for the signal. how RWWA/PR allowed it to carry on so blatently..even though what they were doing is not illegal.
Whyte involved.. I dunno all I know is that he will sing like a canary and potentially drag a few down with him. a few will have a very nervous xmas...

How do you know that Falcon?

I have a couple of contacts who bet locally for Eastern States interest but on Eastern States races only. They avoid Perth. From results indicated to me bar one big Melbourne Cup win they are not that good.

Paul Whyte not involved , but yes , the Sydney operation is no more . The tip is that the mastermind sold the program.

They are working the uk market but also more than likely making more money elsewhere in different markets they had someone buy a majority share and it was new CEO’s decision to shut Aussie ops

Agree with Falcon. There has to be plenty involved to ensure the 'alleged' swindle works. Obviously not all earnt the money Whyte is alleged to have gained. Whyte wash?

Peter Anthonisz has left town just before all this went down. Anything to see there ?
I remember hearing him say on radio that he went east to pursue a punting career or something of that ilk ?
