    I am on no high horse. We did cheat the system. And we paid a very very high price. Some would say too higher price. The penalty's handed out hurt us for 20 years. 
    Was it fair    :-??   Probably.

    Melb Storm got stripped of two premierships - for doing exactly what Carlton did - the NRL did not tolerate it - those 2 years were declared Null and Void -  with no winner in the record/history books 

    You kept your Premiership - which is an utter disgrace

    Simpson was savage on the players for putting themselves in a potential Covid hotspot.
    They were allowed to have a drink because it was an 8 day break etc. The venue and the current Eagles Covid plight was the issue obviously.
    I don’t have enough energy to outline everything wrong at our club at the minute.except to say we are phucked on every level.

    I cant disagree with you there.  :-??

    But you be honest and tell me what is the bigger disgrace is Marko. Now you be genuine and honest here. 

    Who got the better deal Melbourne Storm or Carlton. Storm won 12 games the next year then were  minor premiers and made a prelim the following year and low and behold they won the flag the following year. 
    Now, Carlton on the other hand were fined 1million and a host of early draft picks over 3 drafts including 2 number 1 picks. And it crippled the club for 20 years. 

    I would have gladly given that premiership back and kept all our selections in the following drafts.

    Keep digging back in time  alot what took place  is  not acceptable now. VFL days did you  notice the chest  on the players who were on Anabolic Steroids when the games were all played Saturday Afternoon---.Some players routine  Steriod Injection-- 24-48 hours before game. then pain killers Saturday morning , three hours before the game push themselves .through the water at the  beach come out like king kong. Limp off like they had a broken leg  back 20 minutes late like nothing. But in retirement  sad to see how they hobble around.. 

    Stand corrected but think Charles from richmond was terribly treated. when he tested positive to steroids as heap of players were  on them. A lot  had switched to the water based steroids that didn't stay in the system as long,

    Can't think of  Carlton player's name in a match who  received thinking it was pain killer? his first two kicks went 5 metres because he was out of wack. and not functioning to well.

    Remember 95 grand final was at the game---Four  things stuck in my memory bank.from the Game---Diesel Williams had a string attached to the ball.---- It was over at half time--. Brownless tried to start a blu at halftime.. & The  Norm Smith medal was Williams a long way from the final siren.

    Not sure whether it was the tight shorts but the Eagles 1991 GF team looked physically strong.
    If I recall Matt Barber at the time was their strength and conditioning coach….Just sayin.

    Didn't the crows have a special drink associated to. There 97- 98 success plus sleep routine

    Focusing on draft.
    Is this a “transition” into a rebuild.

    The player was Mick Mcguane who couldn't kick found were he use to play with injections to his groin said his brain & leg disconnected. Read were he had injection to dull a ruptured urethra but  after game had 1.5 litres of toxic fluid drained.

    This is 4 years of misery to try and repair a club so broken of the like we have never seen. :-q

    Pick you chin up Deto. The future will be decided by how we play after the mid season break. We have a lot of untested players in the squad. Some are getting exposure now, but that's not being tested. Hough, Trew, Chesser, Winder, Jack Williams, Jaimeson, Bazzo and i;m sure i've missed a few.

    If we get tough going forward with squad selection, and those who have had a great career with West Coast put in for the club for a season or two, i can see a potential with only this and 1 more season in the bottom 4.

    But that is dependent on how they manage the second half of the year. For me this will be the interesting part of the season. If they play all the old faces, then i doubt that the future will be very exciting. IMO

    Love your optimism Rio but we fail at every measure.
    Too old
    No pace
    No modern game plan
    No discipline 
    Too injury prone
    No hunger
    Too many players with family priorities.

    We are phucked and headed for the worst season of any AFL team in history.

    Assuming those no names mentioned are all A graders WC may even make the eight in 5 yrs time.
    More likely two become A graders the rest fall by the wayside and struggle street continues.
    As far as management over next six months WC are already burying their head in the sand sticking with Homer and refusing to use the word rebuild.
    Remember Freo under Ross Lyon we’re originally restumping and stuck with Ross for too long (although I didn’t agree with his sacking).
    5 yrs later here we are after eventually rebuilding 95% of the team, so much for restumping.
    Luckily for Freo players leaving and good draft picks (plus they managed to nail those picks) they are back up there.
    As a comparison though, history is repeating itself.

    My view of the AFL - when they did the National Comp - if they had only been strong and  just limited to 12 teams - and everyone knows who those teams would be - then you would have a sensational comp - you would have 3 teams the quality of Melb - and the Demons  are great to watch - and also the finals would be sensational . Where as all we get - i 1 outstanding side who win 3 flags Lions/Cats/Hawks/Tigers - and the Demons will be next 

    Bringing in GWS and Suns was just crazy - Melb Storm absolute powerhouse in Vic - but the NRL have never contemplated bringing in a 2nd Vic side 

    And 12 team comp - the side last - say W/Coast - it wouldnt take so long to turn it around - the gap from 1st to 12th wouldnt be anywhere near as great

    As a Dockers supporter I draw no satisfaction from the Eagles current predicament. I am sure that they will come out the other side but the time frame for that is indeterminable at this stage.

    My only other comment on the issue is that if the Dockers were in the same situation there would be some on here calling for the Club to be disbanded.

    !00% agree on all facets...and to have FD agree with me is heart attack stuff!!!!!

    Yes an interesting period for this very successful club. They never accept failure easily, an to have to accept a couple of years in wooden spoon territory, followed by a few years of regaining momentum wilt be awkward. I doubt the club will  lose too many supporters, as they have proven over many years that they are a club that sits comfortably in the top half of the comp.

    An the young no names of today are always going to be the stars of the future. Young in the Dorkers backline is a prime example

    The demographic of the Eagles supporters suggest there will be a drop off in attendances.
    Saw it first hand against Richmond the other night. 39,000. 
    Will struggle to get 35,000 on Sunday.
    Eagles supporters never seen anything like this. We will get slaughtered on field so fans will vote with their feet……but I will be there. 
    Go boys !!!!!

    Might take Melbourne at -100 points for an interest.

    Yeah crowds will definitely drop... but we've got wooden spoons before. This gives a great chance for the weagles supporters to know how good the dorkers supporters have had it for so long. Just rock up to the game and get the best seats in the house at the gate..

    Homer has been dealt a very rough hand this season and has been left with five very ordinary cards:
    • Excessive pre season and early season injuries
    • Excessive covid protocols
    • Novax Jack
    • Continuing fallout from the Tim Kelly trade
    • An aging list with some limping towards retirement.
    One area where he should take responsibility for is a poor attitude by some of his senior players.

    How about lack of fitness pre season.
    The recent COVID issues were a result of a lack of control pre season (Freo live in the same state and funnily had very little problems).
    He has lost control of the the playing group.
    Their performances have been sub par to put it politely.
    This has been going on for nearly two years, it hasn’t suddenly appeared.
    If you ask me he has got off extremely lightly.

    The problem with the Eagles - there are 18 clubs - so the turnaround might not be quick 

    The bloke at Carlton was right  Bruce Matheson - who cares about the coach - he said it is like buying yearlings at the sales - the important person is the  bloke  who has a great eye for a horse - selecting the young talent - where as trainers are a dime a dozen - there are stacks of them to choose from 

    Cant believe the idiots saying Kennedy and Hurn should retire - Josh is still playing  well - 4 goals against Rich - and the inside 50s for all Eagles games this year have been terribly low - 29 the other night . Hurn he got votes in the Derby game 

    Eagles are light on for talent ( plus plenty of injuries )- i would be hanging onto those 2 - i dont care how old they are - probably managed you can get a couple more years out of those 2 

    Not an Eagles supporter  - but boy are there some smug priicks putting the boots into them- and im not suggesting this forum
