Dongara is rated a good 4 today. How is that possible when there has been no irrigation and only 0.5mm of rain in the last 7 days? I'd like to take evens there'll be a track upgrade to a good 3 even though it'll probably be a firm 2.
p.s last year was a Good 3 when they had 2mm rain in previous 7 days and no irrigation.

Agree, will be much closer to a 2.

My pet beef, particularly the protection of Ascot and it's Good 4 when average horses are breaking 1.10

Supposedly a soft 5 at Albany today  =))
In race 5 over 1230m, the winner flew home the last 600m in 38.5.
The 1000m race was won in 1:01.42. The same horse won on a soft 5 last week same course/dist in 1:00.57.
Why do the stewards mislead the punters?

The jocks were all saying much worse than soft 5. The cup was won in a time more than 10 seconds outside the record and the 600m section was 40.06. The winner had the best split of the race in 39.34.
That's closer to heavy 10 than soft 5. WTF is going on?

i would say the fact they both wore coats all day it was cold & on the broadcast it was mentioned drizzle rain at times.

    2025 Albany Cup Soft 5, 2100m run in 2:13.83 (winner's last 600m in 37.31)
    2026 Albany Cup Soft 5, 2100m run in 2:18.77 (winner's last 600m in 39.34)

To top it off, the 2026 Cup was actually 1.5kg stronger on hcp rating.

WTF are the stewards doing? Who holds them accountable? These 2 track ratings are worlds apart, it's not even close.
