Harness Racing Australia

Harness & Greyhounds
The HRA as part of the new strategic plan to help shape the future of the Harness Racing Industry are seeking input from participants. A question for this forum, what has the HRA done to help grow and make our industry better? Sounds a lot of frog **** to me.

I would like to see the seasons go back to where they were not the calendar year as my number 1 priority.

That drop off through Jan and Feb which is the best time to head out and watch a bit of racing is dismal where as i've found the racing/field sizes to be far better over the last couple of months.

Talk about ridiculous or maybe desperate times, next Tuesday a race is programmed at GP for  NR up to 75 for horses that haven't won a race for 5 months and must have had 5 starts or more this season is this dumb or are they pandering to someone. No one has answered my question posted  regarding what has the last three Handicap models done to help grow and make our industry better.

Well the last 2 have done nothing to grow it, i still think mcr could of been tweeked and turned into a good system but that would require effort from the powers to be

Had a good read of the 1972 Harness Horse magazine on the plane - Sept month edition with Red Vicar and Laurie Moulds on the front cover

Things were definitely in the black not the red financially at this point in time

Under the Heading " Totalisator Agency Board of WA " The Totalisator Agency Board Betting Act which was passed by Parliament in Nov 1960 provided for a change from licensed betting premises controlled by bookmaker to an off course totalisator scheme controlled by the TAB WA

The 1st agency was o[pened in Perth on the 18th March 1961 - as at 31st July 1971 - 162 agencies were operating through out the state

The revenue derived by the treasury up to 31st July 1970 was $25,247,170 this assists in meeting all types of govt expenditure charged against the Consolidated Revenue Fund , including the cost of hospital and medical services , schools and education etc

Such expenditure combined with the revenue made available to the Treasury and Racing and Trotting clubs is spent in WA and provides a worthwhile contribution to the economy of the state as a whole--thereby assisting the state and their own racing and Trotting clubs and the horse breeding industry

There is also about a quarter page Ad- Hannans Lager - Brewed and Bottled by The Kalgoorlie Brewing Co. Pty Ltd - Makers of the famous Kalgoorlie Stout - hah
