Reporting Stupidity by Stewards
West Australian Racing
Seems that no matter what the 'explanation" is - it is simply accepted ( "noted") - cop this from Bunbury last week:
RACE 6: BUNBURY MAIL HANDICAP - 2000M
FA'EM (Kevin Bohorun) – When questioned regarding the unplaced performance, rider advised that he had lead comfortably in running and although able to relax his mount through the middle stages the fact that it had raced into the prevailing head wind(sic) had taken its toll and consequently the gelding was unable to finish the race off as anticipated. This explanation was noted.
It was a 2000m race - they went one circuit + ( ie a circle) - in the "middle stages" MOVIE MOGUL raced without cover but seemed to battle on through the headwind to run 3rd at $15.00.

if you were sticking up for the industry, you would be agreeing with rodent.
the way i read your posts is, that however bad something may be, if we hide it and deride, then it's all hunky dory.
No government..state or federal - would go anywhere near our industry for extra funds with the turmoil that it is in...As a senior member of this industry i would have expected that you would be supportive of the emphasis that is coming about for accountability of all participants...Especially if your children have followed you into this industry.
In fact due to years of service within this industry you are in an ideal position to assist with the clean up..both with experience and a desire to help create an industry that will survive for many years to come for the benefit of your children.
Then again maybe your happy with how things are..as an owner/punter and soon to be (rather stupidly) hobby breeder, i feel it could be a lot better..
There is a lot more money to be won in the gallops so I guess that would mean that someone orchestrating things in the gallops would have a bigger war chest in which to throw at the people they needed to act in their interests.
Of course it can happen in the gallops. Whenever there are plunges and stewards aren't asking the right questions, it is reasonable for the punter to question the situation. Of course those making a handsome profit don't want the boat rocked. Steady as she goes wilson.

But they asked the question and I thought the answer was creditable, isn't that what your complaining about?
two areas...
consistency and effectiveness with the stewards - we hear it on here all the time
and professional conduct by trainers..the example of what happened on railway stakes day with two leading trainers is the tip of the iceberg..we need more professional management in the industry..we are no longer a hobby industry when we contribute $600mil/yr to the WA economy..but there are very few well managed operations...argue as much as you like but I'm right....oh, but before you argue about that point...re-read this bit....."there are very few"
and i could go on and on and on and on..Add PR and RWWA to the above as well
if we clean up the inefficiencies that we have within our current system, we may find that what we have actually isn't too bad..we may not of course!!!!
you write as if you want every thing hidden.
i want everything in the open.
you should want exactly the same as me where racing is concerned.
the difference between us, is that i don't know anybody that is involved in racing in wa, so have nothing to defend, and wouldn't anyway.
i actually agree(kind of) with pb, but i can see things that you and he can't(or don't want to).
and i KNOW something is going on.
what it is, i don't exactly know, nor know how extensive, and i don't need to know, to KNOW
that there may be guys from 'sydney' to ME is irrelevant.
I thought their explanation as to why the horses were allowed to start was fair enough
PB...the other states have been found to have some real problems..WA hasn't and i hope that we are never in that position..but it still doesn't mean we cant do better than what we are currently doing..just cos we don't appear to be as bad as others, doesn't mean we should be coasting.
The next few years could be real tough; on the back of a few tough years. I'm not confident from what i see that we are in a position to get through to the other side and be in a strong position.....as an industry.
