My Atacanta – Standing 2013 at Touchstone Farm

Following a mid serving season move in 2012 due to unforeseen circumstances, this coming 2013 season My Atacanta (IRE) by Traditionally(Mr Prospector) will stand at Touchstone Farm for the all inclusive reduced price of $1750. As per previous seasons, a live foal guarantee applies and the service fee is not due until 1 April 2014.

Having covered 110 mares in his first three seasons at stud in WA, and with fertility statistics over 90% each season, owner Alan Macalister is quietly confident that his first crop will produce at least a couple of 2YO’s but with the majority being 3YO types. They have plenty of bone and muscle development and early reports back from two breakers so far, have suggested that his yearlings are intelligent and soak up any work asked of them. Being almost 17hh himself, My Atacanta has injected that same size into the majority of his foals, an important consideration with ever increasing weight scales in handicap racing.

To have your mare booked into My Atacanta this season, contact Damien Wyer Racing and Bloodstock on 0411 227 222. If you would like to inspect the Stallion in his yard at Touchstone Farm, you can do so by ringing:

Through the kindness and generosity of David and Glen, My Atacanta and his broodmares, were given a home at 5 mins notice during a crisis last breeding season. They have remained at the Stud all healthy and happy. As in previous years, My Atacanta stands as a private Stallion that WA Breeders can come to for just a token sum.

Touchstone Farm hold no breeding rights to My Atacanta. He stands there simply as any other agisted horse.

I hope this answers your remark Piston, one steeped in ignorance of the situation.

Shouldn't this be in the Breeding section?

Of all the studs in WA I don't think this is the one you should be knocking PB. They appear very proactive and good for the breeding game in this state.

Fly Peg seems to be going well too.

Curious to know your motivation is in bagging them?

I think the Stallions they have stood haven't produced, Flying Peg has had some very good mares and overall I would say been disappointing, I think overall they would be disappointed in the success of their Stallions, Rad if you think they would not be disappointed with their results your an optimist

"I don't know who advises this stud on Stallions choices but it's not getting any better"

Bit light in bagging I would have thought. Asked who advises them? and stated it's not getting any better ( hard to refute that)

You'll buy me a buy at the races one day PB.

Yes, I am an optimist :D

Unbelievable until this horse actually proves himself I would not contemplate sending him anything.

It would kill you I think if Silver Omen dropped a race winner by him. I hope she does.

Spud on that basis no new stallion would get any mares. You must respect private & commercial . If you don't understand then don't comment just bet that's what this forum is about. I don't have to prove myself I have achieved more than most & I am confident I will continue. So a private stallion is what it is however if someone has the foresight good luck to them. By the way my stallion has nothing to do with touchstone however any astute stud must be happy to get paid in 7 days evey month in excess of 13k.

Thanks Buddy but I didn't really give away the real deal there are in excess of 30 mares & weanlings that go with the stallion. Touchstone do give me a good deal.

We certainly appreciate the support of all customers at our farm. Our relationship with My Atacanta came out of necessity and we were able to assist at short notice. We were glad to do so.
From that time we have had an excellent client and we would hope we are viewed as an excellent service provider.
In relation to our stallions and their performance then how they are going is a matter of record. It is up to others to interpret the statistics and form their own view.
Pretty pleased with a FlyPeg double on Saturday and The Rising winning 5 straight.Very happy with Takanori winning the Breeders recently for VE and in the past two seasons 50 plus mares to P5.
It is not all doom and gloom!

All I will say to all who have had a crack is this horse has no real race performance or pedigree to justify standing him at stud but I will not be ashamed to eat humble pie if he is successful so I say good luck as it is a huge gamble.

Damien what has upset me the most is when someone tells me to my face that my former horse is going to a certain horse and then I find out she has been sent to this horse shows that there is not alot of honesty being shown no matter if he decides to change his mind or you told him your theory about the cross you have mentioned before it is still a big risk and if he needs to bail out of horses for any reason all mares in foal to him will be worth squat . She was not a champion just a good honest mare who deserved her chance at stud being put in foal to a commercial stallion so I will wait to see what sort of horse turns up so like I said above good luck to all involved.

You got to let go of this 'lack of honesty' claim. It misrepresents the Owner because he is not remotely like that, and for the most part, he is too generous in lost causes in the Racing Industry.

He owns in excess of 100 horses, and not a single bill is outstanding more than 7 days. He is in a rare club in this town, of blokes with money who actually don't string you along with bullshit reasons for not getting paid within the trading terms of an invoice.

What your gripe is that he changed his mind, or didn't consider that supporting his own Stallion was in fact a better use of his money, than sending the mare to a questionable first season Stallion that once ran fourth in a good race.

What I made clear to him, was that supporting My Atacanta at stud, was something that he would have to do to give the horse every opportunity. So if you want to blame anyone, blame me.

But bear this in mind, I wouldn't have bought the mare in the first place, and $10,000 was at least twice as much as she was worth. So consider yourself lucky he didn't consult with me and was having a drink at the bar and thought she was worthy of a chance. I never would have bought her.

Because I am a honest person I take what people say to me as the truth and I thought you had put your two bobs worth in with all your so-called theories , the price I thought was fair as she deserved her chance just a shame I am not as rich as your client then she would have never been in the sale . TO SEE ALL MY EFFORTS POSSIBLY GO TO WASTE ALL ON A HUNCH IS CRIMINAL

i hope he's solely not relying on g1 goldmine for matches as it's very scued you only need to look at any mare by serheed to hussonet to realise as theres 6 above 20 ,11 above 18 and 12 with an exact of 41 it's all based on the nick hussonet had with mares by worldwatch not serheed
the only chance of my atacanta has is strong line breeding back to IMPERATRICE her daughter Somethingroyal offspring SECRETARIAT, SIR GAYLORD, FIRST FAMILY, SYRIAN SEA
with a large presence of PRINCEQUILLO as he seems to have the key to unlock the mtdna

on face value just another tinkler , most if not all breeding/racing empire's have been built from one mare. good luck defying the odds of 350 years of thoroughbred history because your going to need every bit you can get

This is an incorrect use of the program. Those scores you talk about are simply the number of occurrences that match between the stallion and , Nothing about that is an indicator that that mating will work.

Obviously you need alot of luck to succeed in racehorse breeding but why knock the bloke for having a go? and putting his cash in.
