R1: Looks a perfect race for No1 That's Rite. Went for a spell on the back of a strong all the way win, trial win in 1.56.6 beating Bettor Party by 15m reads very well for this. I don't see any pressure on it early, Three Bears and Burning are the ones that that can challenge it talent wise but neither is overly quick off the arm. Thought Burning was massive two back but not as impressive last Friday, likely to breeze and i'm a bit worried about the horses in the moving line if That's Rite gets it a bit soft early and is absolutely zipping home. So on that line I'm going to play a first for That's Rite to win banking Vertical Four. I don't think he's racing brilliantly but he's sticking at it well. Likely to look under pressure but should keep on going. I suspect Jungle Face Jake to drop onto Vertical Four's back and Real Zeal to drop onto his back. Zipping home I really think these rails horses could be the ones filling the FF. Burning should breeze, Three Bears on his back and Our Big Slow on his back are the other first four players.
Tip: No1 That's Rite. Bet: FF:1/10/2,3,5,11,12/2,3,5,11,12. 100% costs $20 then rotate the 10 through for a lesser %.

R2: I'm going to back leaders back to be the place to be again and have something on Legendary Lou(10). $26/$3.60 available on Sportsbet at the moment outstanding value. Michael Grantham on Typhoon Tan is an aggressive driver so I expect him to lead, I'd be disappointed if he handed up to Robyn's CC as they would be diminishing their winning chances. Then just a matter of luck for Legendary Lou to get out, Dean Miller driven a couple of nice races during the week, he can continue that here. Not over complicating this one although I think 1,2,3,10,11 are all going to get the nice runs so you could play the novelties around them.
Tip:No10 Legendary Lou. Bet No10 Legendary Lou Win and Place, stacked the place.

R3: This is a tough race. No1 Soho Monza likes to lead, has just moved into the Kristian Hawkins stable and he has shown he can get them going. Is an aggressive driver so I expect it to be leading. I think that The Black Lord has to come out running so that should put a bit of speed into it, wouldn't be surprised to see Bettorbeastar, Courage Tells and Macon Georgia want to go forward at the start. I liked 12 Mr Nickel the other day and if there is the speed I suspect 12 wont be too bad a draw, I give him a chance of finishing over the top of them at odds. Algranco Under Fire has to be a player in this class. Also liked Go West You Terror last week. Think this could be a rare race at GP where the 3 wide line is a big player come the finish.
Tip: No12 Mr Nickel. Bet: EW No12 Mr Nickel.

R4: I suspect No2 Donegal Chokin will be capable of leading these up and at $8 on sportsbet at the moment is a terrific price. Is racing very well at the moment, think it leads and wins. Every single horse in this race has some winning chance, luck in running to play a major part.
Tip: No2 Donegal Chokin. Bet: No2 Donegal Chokin win. Paly an early quad banking him: 1,10/1,3,10/1,9,12/2. 100% costs $18.

R5: I do like to watch the trotters, fantastic animal. I do not however like to bet on the trotters and i'm confident that i'm not alone, to program this as the first leg of the main quad grinds my gears and shows that whoever is doing the programing doesn't worry too much about turnover. I haven't got the foggiest on the form other than No10 Earl Of Charity seems to win very easily when it does things right! Drawn wide might actually be a good thing as I suspect we may see some bubble as they try to get out quickly over the sprint trip so if forced he'd be the way I would go. Good luck.

R6: Loved No1 Cyamach the other day and at first glance this looks great for him. My question though is does Mach Alert come out flying? I think it does, i'm expecting sparks! So I can't bring myself to back either of them even though they are obviously the main winning chances on ability. No9 Copagrin is flying. You will know if he's a winning chance after they have gone 100m so I won't be having more than pocket change on him as if the 2 mentioned don't go hard they will walk and Copagrin will be out of it t the back.
Tip:No1 Cyamach. Bet: No9 Copagrin small EW.

R7: Wow Phoenix Warrior as short as $1.80, leave me out of that! I think it needs multiple miracles to hold up and the mile is absolute not its go. Just does not look his race to me. I actually think 6 Better Than Money crosses which will pave the way for 10 Ti Amo Franco to follow it over, take it up and win. $11 with 365, hopefully that with the TAB. It is a lot harder to cross from wide over this trip rather than 2130m but I just think their early speed is going to be superior. I'm going to play the novelties around them. I could be way wrong but I think panic stations may set in with Phoenix Warrior and he might end up finding trouble and finishing down the track, if things do work out for him though the talent is obviously there to play a part. I'm not brave enough to rule any of them out for the novelties so just going to play for tiny percentages.
Tip: No10 Ti Amo Franco. Bet: Win No10 Ti Amo Franco, FF:10/6/FD/FD. 100% costs $42. Might take 10%!   then rotate through.

R8: No1 Devendra to lead throughout? No one has the speed to cross it early, there will be horses that want to go forward but if it is coping a lot of pressure I feel it will be undue. Time will tell what's going to happen. Talk of My Hard Copy to go 3 back the fence, very hard to give up such a beautiful draw in the moving line. The thinker in me can't help but conclude that with Run Oneover and My Hard Copy having the same connections Devendra may well be going to cop that early pressure. The best option for Run Oneover is to take the 1,1 on Lovers Delight thinking that horse is likely to put others off trying to take the breeze. The problem with that is AC Lewis is not likely to over do it in that position so there wouldn't be enough pressure on. If you think of Run Oneover and My Hard Copy as a package deal then absolutely the best chance of winning is Run Oneover kicking through and holding the breeze at all costs, thus putting more pressure on Devendra and having MHC sitting pretty 1,1 nice and close to the speed. The more I think the stronger I feel this is the likely scenario. Under those circumstances Lovers Delight is in a lot of pain. Devendra can still win as i'm reasonably confident we wont see another Toretto. Beadiene Boaz an obvious player, it will be hard to rate back and keep him in if MHC is surging 3 wide so Jnr should be getting off late. Should be a great race, don't like that i'm anticipating it with nerves as to wether everyone is going to be given a fair chance but that's the nature of WA pacing at the moment, I suspect it should all be ok, i'm happy enough if Run Oneover does elect to keep the breeze. If Run Oneover does kick up don't be surprised to see John Of Arc pop around to the breeze once Lovers Delight is out of the way.
Tip: No1 Devendra. Bet: I've backed Devendra at $3 and MHC at $7.50, moved away from my no confidence earlier in the week!

R9: A 2536m race with some early speed in it, this may end up being a survival of the fittest. Bhagwan was a fantastic result for me last week. After causing the interference though I suspect K Sheehy may be a bit gun shy and be at the mercy of A Cortopassi. Two ways to look at it, Ginas Ingot who is a horse with a fair amount of ability and great gate speed has had a lot of time off so i'd suggest it has had an injury. You never know how many runs you are going to get out of one who has had issues so do you bite the bullet and go for an all the way win when one is going to be trying to cross you or do you take the easy option and trail it around, pick up some money and hope to fight on another day? Time will tell. I'd hold up ha ha! Delete And Deny was entitled to do more last start, loves the trip but I don't like it here being likely to breeze.No10 Major Rush at $26 Sportsbet is an EW bet to nothing. He will just be smoking the pipe and is a morale to be weaving late as others tire, big player. I suspect No9 Sir Slick will be a player as well, grab hold be patient and fly past the tiring runners. I'm liking some at odds tonight!
Tip: No10 Major Rush. Bet: Think I'll be backing both No10 Major Rush and No9 Sir Slick with novelties around 4,7,9,10 to win for small percentages.

R10: Small field, some very good horses though. Harry Hoo is just going to be getting home too quickly I think for anyone to catch him.

Heading up tonight for our annual catch-up. Have hardly watched a race or had a bet at GP for the past 6 months so will be following you blindly Gilga. You have my total faith.

We run a punting comp on the evening so hopefully one of your EW selections wins and blows away the competition.

Like a few tonight on an each way basis - all run on horses - so my only proviso - is some times when there is a big night - they do something to the track during the week - extra preparation - and it turns it into an unbelievable front runners track - i hope its not like that - and like last week - where it played very fair - Astra Boys race - the leader led and folded up because its an ordinary horse

    (1) Race 2 - no 8 Hoylakes Firstlady- this was a super run 1st up at Pinjarra - i clocked its last half mile in 55 flat - it ran about 6th - it was wide on the track - and was the only horse to make ground in that race - it had get on me next start written all over it . Its $21 fixed odds  - its a quiet field - and if it gets any cart into the race it will be winning

    (2) Race 3  no 3 Bettorbeastar and no 11 Ima Tradgedy - they are both racing well and both are well graded in just an average field - both will be double figure odds and are worth something each way

    (3) In the cup - no horse hit the line better than  My Hard Copy - Hall snr confirmed that it will be driven 3 the pegs - team Hall with their multiple runners will ensure that the pole marker will have a torrid time in front

Happy to go with Devendra myself. Doubt it will have to run a 26.3sec opening 1/4 from the inside-if they want to take him on they will be the ones that pay for it. Rather be out in front than on the pegs and praying.

Glad I prepaid my meal and drinks bill. Tough game this. The company is good and they have certainly done a good job with the beau rivage room since I was last here.

Morgan Woodley driving at Busselton and not GP. What is that all about?

Yeah, broke my duck with ti amo Franco running a place. What a top effort by it. Worked like a Trojan.

Yep, ticket in the bin after 50m. I'm struggling big time. Lay of the day runs just as I thought but not smart enough to make anything out of it

Massive run. But you can not beat team driving. Especially the Halls. Just wait and watch what **** they get away with in the cup. It's a fuucken disgrace and thrE reason I do not punt on the trots.

The connections of Ti Amo Franco should be exceptionally proud of there horse because that was huge

  • GilgameshGilgamesh    5,009 posts
    That was massive.

Top win. Not as exciting as the Quinn sweeping around them but did well to get over the leader.

Yep, that was fair enough, good race, good win and none of the shenanigans that could have been......althogh not quite sure what John Of Arc was doing.

Outstanding drive Chris Voak on big roughie Jason Rulz...3 back the pegs from barrier 12, with Beaudinne Boaz and Devendra in front of him, 2 great horses to be following especially knowing Hally would be pushing off the pegs. Trent Cooper on racing radio this morning stated that would happen and thereby he gave Jason Rulz a big chance of running 3rd or 4th.

And yet the first four has still paid $400, i'm just spewing Voak train couldn't get it into 3rd to really boost it up.

An absolute barry crocker on the punt early but thankfully coming home lile a train

major Rush ran well but with quarters like that, too hard. Has convinced me to not to have another punt at GP until next year. Great night. Good luck in the last.

Good quartet dividend on the Cup....The 3 clear cut favourites and the horse that was always going to settle 3 back the pegs and never leave the pegs!

Near the corner I even thought Jason was a silly chance of winning!!! In my market quoted him at $201 so was feeling a bit red faced!! The classiness of the other 3 told in the end. But once again that soft run 3 back the pegs is worth its weight in gold no matter how rough they are.

You were feeling red faces, have a look at my tiping!

In my defence i have summed up quitea few of the races 99% right just havent nailed the final result.

$27 quin the last race coupled with FF the big dance really helped. You nearly need to play a couple of different senarios at GP and bet novelties around them hoping the best result comes in. Or load up Sportsbet and bet in the run.

Not that he could ever win it but Ideal Tyson ....ummm.....lets just say he was "a victim of circumstances".....and well, I don't think he will ever dominate again like he did as a 2 year old.

After the great drive on Jason Rulz.... Voak drives a shocker in the last! But wasn't his fault..as said byJJ a victim of circumstances. One minute you are a bug and the next minute a windscreen!

the punt was a shocker for me. Came last out of ten in our punting comp. At least the misses won it. She suggested that I should of listened to her rather than Gilga:-) told her she was a flash in the pan.

The simple thing on the Cup was to entirely exclude all horses drawn 4-9... That left 1, 3, 10, 11 and the other possible two who could good get soft runs were 2 and 12. They settled leader , breeze , behind the leader , one out one back , 3 back the pegs and one out 2 back. The rest might as well have stayed at home in the barn.
