R 1 Candlelight Star, ton of gear changes
R2 Patapus,  may be better on top of ground, has  bullish ability
R5 Verdello Blue, tends to hold form at Belmont
    R6 Fire Detonator, blackbooked
R8 Politics, Carvemup back might be enough to get over the line.

Battling with this meet , Gatting 3 Rs run in as many weeks drawn wide Peters horse drawn to get a cheap run and Jackpot was a good run last start of the frog gets Gatting in with cover should win but I'm not keen on price as for the rest of the card Fire Detonator looks a chance Flying Time loves a soft track Wacked Out trialled well

    Scott’s Belmont Saturday Preview

    BelmontPreview_ScottEmbry

    Scott Embry’s Preview

    Race 1

JUST MAGICAL was strong at his WA debut and with the wet weather expected to stay through until the weekend he gets conditions to suit. FLYING TIME is another who grows a leg in the wet and should repeat his last start performance. THE CELT either leads or box seats. CANDLELIGHT STAR could improve with shades.

    Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 2

Suggested Bet – JUST MAGICAL EACHWAY

    Race 2

ATACAMA SKY has a class edge over rivals, however, must contend with a big weight. If he can handle that and the track conditions he should go mighty close. SNOW LORD is a strong on-speed type fresh. IMPERIAL VENUS is in great form. SANTIAGO GIRL needs to step up in this grade.

    Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 9

Suggested Bet – ATACAMA SKY WIN

    Race 3

COGNAC has proven himself as an extremely consistent juvenile sprinter. Back to 1000m, he will be very hard to get past. DANES MAREE belted opposition first-up but not convinced she has the speed necessary to cross from the outside. OKINA KURI was luckless in both starts last preparation, trialed well.

MY DEMI should get the run of the race.

    Numbers: 1 – 8 – 4 – 3

    Suggested Bet – COGNAC EACHWAY

    Race 4

DUTCH SPY looks to have come back bigger and better. He is suited over further but there looks to be mountains of top end tempo. CHERIE AMOUR is in career best form. BELLS TOWER gave a great sight at 1200m. BORDER SCOT will be running on late.

    Numbers: 6 – 2 – 3 – 1

Suggested Bet – DUTCH SPY EACHWAY

    Race 5

SCOONER is racing consistently without getting the rewards. If Parnham can find a spot one off the fence from his awkward draw he goes close. JETOOMY will find it tougher than last start settling off the speed. GANGBUSTER is a query at the trip but is talented. VERDELLO BLUE continues to race consistently.

    Numbers: 12 – 2 – 5 – 1

    Suggested Bet – SCOONER EACHWAY

    Race 6

PHANTOM CHOICE should find the front for the first time this preparation and could be a sharp improver. VALMONT was good first-up at an unsuitable trip. LET’S TWIST is a potentially talented stayer resuming. FIRE DETONATOR continues to savage the line.

    Numbers: 6 – 13 – 7 – 8

Suggested Bet – PHANTOM CHOICE EACHWAY

    Race 7

GATTING looks the good thing of the day on paper. Three runs in three weeks and the gate are the only possible queries you could have on him. WESTERN TEMPLE should box seat and do less work than anything else in the race. FONTAINEBLEAU was a strong winner of the Oaks. ELEGANT BLAST was equally as eye catching in that race.

    Numbers: 1 – 2 – 10 – 11

    Suggested Bet – GATTING WIN

    Race 8

LUKE’S GOLD continues to go from strength to strength. This race looks very winnable on his current form. PRENTICE could be the blowout with a postage stamp weight if the track deteriorates. THE FORGOTTEN ONE was excellent first-up off the back of a farcical tempo. BARAKI BEATS is always thereabouts.

    Numbers: 7 – 12 – 4 – 6

Suggested Bet – LUKE’S GOLD WIN

TabTouch SuperPick – Profit Plus 25%

    Quaddie (Race 5-8)

    2,5,12

    4,5,6,7,8,13

    1,2

    4,7,12.

    Miller Oozes Belmont Classic Confidence

    Blog_Gatting

Co-trainer Jason Miller is adamant Jackpot Prince can cause an upset and dethrone star three-year-old Gatting in the $100,000 Listed Belmont Classic on Saturday.

Gatting, the WA Derby champion, holds hot favouritism, but Miller believes Jackpot Prince is an emerging stayer who will thrive over 2200m.

Miller’s confidence in Jackpot Prince was validated two weeks ago when he ran an eye-catching third to Variation in the Listed Aquanita Stakes (2000m).

The Casino Prince gelding, who made the jump to listed grade after back-to-back mid-week victories, didn’t look out of depth in stakes company.

He finished powerfully from well back in the field and swept past a brave Gatting, who faded to fourth after a torrid run out wide.

Miller lavished praise on the run and said he expects Jackpot Prince to hold the ascendancy over Gatting for a second time.

“His run last-start was top class and pity it wasn’t another 100 or 200 metres with the way he was hitting the line,” Miller said on Tabradio.

“He goes up another 200 metres which will suit and the bonus with him is he can stay all day.

“On his last run I would think he is the horse to beat you would have thought.

“He is our best runner on the day and I can’t fault him on what he has done.

“He has trained on well and on his last three runs he is definitely up to Saturday grade.”

Jackpot Prince, one of two starters for Miller and co trainer Geoff Durrant, shares the second line of betting with Western Temple ($6).

Gatting, who rebounded from his Aquanita Stakes defeat, when he circled the field from last to defeat Rosewood Hill over 2100m a week ago, is a firm $1.85.

Miller and Durrant’s outside chance, Fast As The Wind, is at $51.

The Blackfriars filly ran fifth to Fontainebleau in last fortnight’s Belmont Oaks.

“She has ability, but in her preparation she is a run behind where we want to be,” Miller said.

“She will improve fitness wise, but it’s a step up in class.”

Clint Johnston-Porter picks up the ride on Jackpot Prince and jumps from barrier 13.

Shaun McGruddy and Fast As The Wind combine from barrier six..

    Wright’s Slick Belmont Move

    Blog_Slick slick mover

Craig Wright’s faith in Slick Mover will be put to the test when the Kalgoorlie-trained three-year-old races at Belmont on Saturday.

The former Perth sprinter has been an excellent acquisition for Wright and goes on trial for major goldfield races later this year.

After posting consecutive Kalgoorlie wins last week, Slick Mover chases a hat trick in the J.J. Richards & Sons Handicap (1400m).

“He has always shown ability and his form is hard to fault,” Wright said.

“The way he has been going he deserves a shot at Saturday company.

“I’m confident he will run a competitive race.

“If he goes well I have some big plans lined up.

“I don’t want to say too much just yet, but the weekend will tell me a lot.

“I’m not concerned by the back-up and think he will actually thrive.

“My only concern is a tricky draw and the possibility of a rain affected track.”

Slick Mover, unplaced only three times from 11 career starts, has drawn barrier 12 of 14. Top jockey Dan Staeck takes the ride.

Meanwhile Wright believes a gear change can help boost the hopes of speedster Queenie O’Lara in the Tabtouch Handicap (1000m).

The mare has not finished outside the first two at her past six starts, but will need to go up another gear against stronger opposition.

“She is so tough and honest, who jumps and runs, but up in class she can be a sitting duck, Wright said

“That’s why I have tinkered around with her gear, blinkers on, winkers off, so she can relax and settle.

“She is going super and I expect another competitive race from her.

“I believe both my horses will produce good runs.”

In a field of 11 starters, Queenie O’Lara jumps from barrier seven. The daughter of Blackfriars will be partnered by Brad Parnham.

Preview gets written Wednesday nights before markets and things do change!
As I understand the blog on tabtouch has been updated to reflect the change of heart, PTT Power!!
If you want winners wait for @Sticks to declare his 3 short priced favs!! I'm guessing it'll be Recoiled, Jetoomy and Gatting :)

for the first time for ages I cannot see one stand out bet. the falcon may stay in his nest today.

gatting is ridiculously short at around 1/1...fontainebleu was very strong in its last win.

by race 8 i'll probably having a coldie and may be tempted to have a few roubles on Politics.

having said that good luck to me olde mates Rio and Flo plus the Gatting boys.

always say to myself 'don't play on a soft track'. But I never listen... So here are mine!

    recoiled
    snow lord
    cognac/okina kuri
hopefully gatting gets the drifts again! but might have a dabble jackpot prince and taxagano each way if i can
the forgotten one/polotics - probably end up backing lukes gold as well as I love that horse

Gotta put in a good word for Ernie, 6 winners and two seconds last night including a 16/1 2nd and a couple at reasonable odds in Dana Duke and Donegal Rundlescreek....well on the pace on a tough night.

Shame @RIO Filly didn't get up but Cognac just keeps going around at solid odds every week. Nothing against the Wizard but if Pike was riding that each week it would be starting around 2-3.

Like the way Cognac ran away from them in the closing stages. Might make a very nice three year old.

Had another look through the form and did notice he was good odds. He ran a good race last start, barrier 1 with Noske and a month freshen up from his last run has got me. I took a 1x2 @ 14/4.25
