R1- BELLA’S IDOL continues to front up and run honest races start after start. Was given a month off before his run two back but did win a trial the week of that run. Ran a long last in a field of four but on a heavy 10 and doesn’t seem to like genuinely rain affected tracks. Bounced back onto a soft five last start when stretching the neck of ZARATITE who he faces again here but gets a 1.5kg weight swing. Rolls forward again and gets a good four surface.
R2- GUNNAGO was a much improved run back in trip last start. Ran a good race four back at 1600 when second before struggling from back in the field over staying trips at his next two. Last start he rolled forward when caught deep and found in the straight when only picked up late but kicking away 3L clear of third. That race has produced two subsequent winners and in a another race where he maps to be forward on a solid tempo he can run another big race.
R3- POLICIERE is a nice filly returning. Was a two time Saturday winner in her first prep including a win over Flying Missile. Came back for a Karrakatta Plate prep and was solid first up after working hard to cross before a close second in the Gimcrack. Nothing went right for her in the Karrakatta and she was immediately spelled. Draws wide here but looks capable of crossing down to at least the breeze and her recent 400m trial was slick.
R4- GUNMETAL GREY finds a good race to break through this campaign. Placed behind Special View first up, second in a Saturday 3yo race and never got a crack last start. Went back in a walk sprint affair which are the kinds of races that can produce hard luck stories. Drawn wide again here but expect positive tactics in a race where they should find the breeze very easily if they want to. From there on the seven day back up she should be tough.
R5- THE INVISIBLE MAN has looked a Saturday type in the maidens. Was forced to lead from wide gates at his first two and went down fighting at both. Got the opportunity to take a sit last start from a low draw and was a determined effort to run the leader down late. Gets the opportunity to take the sit again from another low draw without getting too far off the leaders. Like the O’Donnell booking and think he wins a Saturday race sooner rather than later.
R6- AL MAHALO gets the nod in this weeks staying raffle. Has always looked to have ability and his win two pointed towards that ability coming out. Was a nice win over Stocktaka with 6L back to third. Stocktaka was the target of a spirited betting move that narrowly missed during the week and Al Mahalo was a big run last week when circling the field from second last to run third. His sole run at a staying trip four back was good when third behind Baronova and just needs a bit of luck in this from an outside draw.
R7- BRAVE DREAM demonstrated what she had always felt capable of last start. Was a shade disappointing early in her campaign before being a moral beat in a strong race two back. Last start was huge, sat deep with cover out the back off a strong speed before making a sustained run on the turn and running straight past the leader to win soft. If she can continue to produce those types of runs she’ll be winning much better races than this. Maps to get a much softer run here.
R8- TOO CLOSE THE SUN was okay first up in the NGAWYNI. Had to carry 62kg and got back a bit but loomed into the race and peaked on his run. Comes back to 1300 second up and is really well suited at WFA as a 101 rater. Coming back in trip looking for him to go forward and in a race without a lot of speed expect from the middle draw they go forward and end up leading or breezing. Second up card is outstanding a looks to have a little class edge.
R9- Best Bet: REIGN OF FIRE has a short sharp turn of foot that should be complimented by a three back fence run. Was a big winner two back in this grade when cuddled until the 200m and letting down to win by 3.5L. Was well backed in a similar race last start when asked to go on the turn and peaked a little late when getting within half a length for third. Will obviously need luck from three back fence but they should be rolling and that’ll suit him.

Thunder I wouldn't write off Costa Del Santo. Good each way chance. In the same race a mad one at any old price is Night Voyage, Can be a big improver as can Point Taken. There is the trifecta :-B :D

Admire your optimism mate lol i'm a fan of Costa but suspect he much prefers it wet and a bit longer, though likely plenty of speed on may suit.
