Victoria Derby day 30/10/2021.

East Coast Racing
Thought i would kick off a thread for probably my favourite day on the racing calendar just about, derby day obviously kicks off a week of very good racing, not always the best track to bet at however.
Conditions possibly will see a track just into the soft range be presented not much rain is forecast up til this meeting.

If Vlandy's thinks his Golden Eagle race is taking much away from the Melbourne cup carnival opening day he ought to get off the crack pipe...

Looking at the main race Gunstock has drawn the carpark(19 or 15 after scratchings)which isn't ideal and the fav who i like Forgot You drew very well in barrier 8(7 after scr.)The close finishing runner up in the Vase Desert Harry drew wide also, i'm prepared to put a line through his chances. The other one from the Price/Kent yard Jungle Magnate who ran on well for 3rd in the same race could be worth an e.w bet and is around 20s currently.

Unsure whether Icebath will back up so no bet til at least acceptance time(seeking a prized group 1 personally i think they should tackle one of these 1600m races if she is spot on)but she is nommed for both the Cantala and Empire Rose which is for fillies and mares on Saturday, she will take some beating in either with that nice long straight to launch being right up her alley, is good value at around $11 in both races atm.
One danger in the Empire Rose could be Collette, she probably wants a soft 6 though.

One of the owners of Gunstock offered the tip that it would win the Derby to his ex in lieu of paying child support. It's a funny world.

On the ease bigtime Forgot You out to 5.50, i may yet jump ship..

Like Barb Raider in the Wakeful and still will be backing Icebath in the Cantala, willl be plenty of speed in that race and an in form Mcneil should get a cart up maybe on the back of horses like Superstorm or Cascadian and launch late.

Think its going to be ok Slip?, quite a cool day forecast but minimal to no rain and a Good 4 track very likely the trackmeister said, some speculation it may end up a 3.
Storm/winds etc have mostly or all passed now.

Big go Superstorm 10 or 11 bucks into 6.50 right now.

Good track all day, a 4 now maybe a late upgrade or stays as is.

W.A; horse Samizdat--his hanging issues  seems to detract from his finishing run his got to be ridden by lefthanded jockeys to try and keep him straight which has taken place --today his racing down the straight if he can't hold his line--maybe a run in Sydney to see how he goes with the opposite lead -leg.off a camber. what he has shown here at different times --- group 2 level he  should be  able to  mix it  with them over east.  Hope he runs well for w.a.
