G'day all, Merry Christmas and all of that.

I read a call from Marko the other day for members to put up what they were backing and reasoning why so I thought I'd chime in-great that he has been doing so and finding some great winners as well.

Had a much needed break as I wasn't enjoying the racing, was betting out of habit without really taking in much racing and doing woefully as a byproduct .

Its actually been listening to Matt's work with Russell Betts on Tuesday mornings that gave me a bit of a spark-fantastic hearing Russell back dissecting harness racing the way he does full of energy, some of his sectional break downs can add a lot of colour to what initially may have looked like a ho hum race meet.

R2: Sadly missed the EW price that was initially put up for Joe With the Flow, he is about half that now. So instead had a go at the one on his back No10 Tiza New Day heavily place biased. Initial thoughts would be this is a tough grade for him but a lot of these are out of form where as he is consistently applying himself as well as he can. Suck along the pegs, hopefully behind the leader with a few dropping off over the 2536m is his A1 scenario.

R3: If you shop around you can pretty much have 2by3 bet on No11 Typhoon Banner with the place return covering your win. Would have loved to have seen him driven more positively last week but I concede that is the punter coming out in me-fully accept if he held the front he was probably just then fodder for one of the other good horses sitting on them and then Dylan would have need to patch him up. swings and round abouts here as from one off on the back line following through a strong horse he should finally be in a close enough position following a good tempo (probably 1 out 2 back behind the 2 Hall horses) to swoop home and win one.

R4: Just something very small Mandy Joan through betfair or mid tote on the off chance the two faves cook each other.

R6: Again something very small Hampton Banner is I give him a chance of crossing these.

R7: I thought maybe No4 Heez Our Precious could push forward and then grab the one one on the back of the stablemate Gambit and then look to run over him in the straight. Even if he can't get past the two horses directly inside him and ends up further back in the moving line he still has strong place claims.

R9: Absolute cracker of a race this, I heard it possibly wont be covered by sky due to the finish time but I hope that isn't the case. I look two here on the basis it could set up for the run on horses. No8 Star Of Willoughby although beaten a long way I still thought its last run vindicated its win prior in that it still finished off really well when clear. Again shopping around i think you can find a way of going 2by3 with the place covering your win. The other one is No6 Squinta. I think this horses form is sneaking under the radar and he looks a good place play at some decent odds around and one to anchor through the novelties with the two faves.

Good luck all.

Very good to see Gilgamesh back on the forum - hopefully there are some winners - in his views

I had a detailed look last night at both GP and Albany - because all markets were up - and i came up with nothing

Thus i will be a watcher not a punter re the 2 WA meetings - but GP have got some interesting races

Hall Snr - said in Sat West a couple of weeks back - that it was a disgrace - an absolute disgrace that they left out Balcatherine - in last years pacing cup - so he must  have a good opinion of that mare

The only bet ive had - and i stress its small e/w - and just for an interest - is in Race 8 - Pradason @  the $9. It was a very good run last week - sustained a long run - and kept finding the line

Its got very good gate speed - so i think De Campo will have a real shot for the lead

However Pradason - and it was exactly the same in Melb - is not one of those horses where you can rely on it - it could lead and win like a champion - or it could lead and fold up - thats why the bet is small e/w

Congrats Shane Butterworth on his 500th winning drive at Albany this afternoon - Alta Camino.. Very much deserved for one of the good guys who doesn't lack any talent in the cart. @ $21 fixed had a little nibble so happy to hand out a Xmas bouquet.
Also interesting female line to 2 y/o winner Trunkey Fetch....couple of handfuls of decent Humphies bred Trunkey horses from the U Scott mare Cele line. Jaguar/Ferrari/Limousine/Maserati etc etc etc.
A few mixups in running at Alb today but enjoyed watching just the same.

Bridgetown trainer Brendan Gardiner doing a top job with Alta Camina, bred, owned and trained. Secretary Bridgetown Club, helps out anyway he can. A pair of good guys get a slice of christmas ham.

Evening and merry Xmas everyone ,

Quite a few horses pulling up
During the races today is it heat that is affecting then or just one of those nights ?

Good luck to the ones celebrating Alta Camino win - and of course after it won - but not before - thats the important bit

Didnt have a bet at Albany today - but when i did the form for that race - - i watched a replay - and its previous effort was an absolute shocker - got the breeze easy - just gave up and got beaten about 40 metres

I love genuine horses so hopefully stewards query the form reversal today

Just enjoying the fact that Brendon got a win Marko, not a cent on him, you have about as much charity in you as Peter Foster. Did you watch the race, the leader galloping and disorganising the mob might have helped Alta....just a bit. Home in 31.2 is hardly shooting the lights out. Very pleased that a contributor like Brendan got a slice of luck and a well deserved win.

A few are reported to have suffered atrial fibrillation ....Balcatherine, Leap Of Faith....and a few others dropping out. Heat wouldn't be assisting that's for sure, floating to the track in the heat of the day.

That was a great win by Minstrel - a seriously good horse - and arguably Bonds best ever horse

I thought the week before it was a ripper run even though it got beat - interesting that - Hall Snr talked up the horse that beat it - said it cant handle the 800 metre track - and its going to McCarthys - and it will do a King of Swing - wher its form will improve through the roof

Wish I could have informed you Marko but I didn't make up my own mind until a couple of minutes to go. If you disregard its last run it had run 3rd 1st 3rd 4th its previous four runs ....so $21 was way overs......it did have some luck though....leader galloped & left it in front from the breeze while most of the field copped interference. A lot of the Alta Christianos are awkward drives....Shane is a very experienced pilot.
...& let me say I won't be dining out at the Ritz on the result. It was secondary to the effort put in to get the horse over the line...by driver & trainer..

I reckon another Alta Christiano is a silly chance @ $125 in the next at GP....Master Leighton ...ACLewis 2500m .

Rocket makes it back to back Frid night GP Doubles - which is a very good effort - hes got a nice team of horses at the moment and they can do plenty of work in the run - so no fluke about their performances

That last winner - one of the part owners is Aaron Bain youngish SA trainer - but more prominent as an owner - i reckon Aust wide - he would have a part share share/ownership of about 20 pacers - he has got quite a few with Ben Yole in Tassie

Very glad we took all our horses out tonight. Not the weather to sit in a float for 3 hours

Since initially recording that Balcatherine fibrillated (in the stewards notes on HRA results), they have now corrected it to Leap Of Faith and Angel Of White whilst Bracken Sky also fibrillated and bled.

Thanks Marko! Aaron is a big supporter of our stable along with summit bloodstock, you’re very conservative saying 20 think he owns somewhere closer to 100 has about 12 with us alone.

Congrats Shane Butterworth on his 500th winning drive at Albany this afternoon -

Hope RWWA Makes a presentation in acknowledgment of his achievement in country harness. Not too many others have driven 500 winners predominantly based in outer-country location. Most important stand corrected but also doubt  he would've  crossed paths with stewards for any serious infringements----over the journey

Sure he worked for Alan (huck) Mitchell be about 35 years ago in byford.--- Well Done Shane.
