Jan 1 deadline for Perth Racing employees - no jab no work

West Australian Racing
I've heard from a couple of people who work at Ascot on race days that unless they're double vaxxed, they won't be able to work from Jan 1 onwards. These people are in the food/beverage service area.
Makes me think though- does this apply to the racing folk as well? (Jockeys/trainers etc). All the talk about Pikey has gone quiet on this front... I wonder if he has decided to get jabbed after all.

Just read this too. Just spectators, or everyone, including participants?

i have JUST received...1.06pm today from WA racing. firstly, keep your masks at hand, extended to 6am tues 4th jan...with special rules for the perth cup. these rules are...
    - double dose proof for all patrons, staff, volunteers and industry workers.**
-masks mandatory for all indoor and outdoor areas
-seated for all food and beverage consumption only.*

i take industry workers to include jockeys.

i read this that no standing at bars. these rules will put a lot of people off. imagine the mayhem at the entry points.
i've asked chris if he can get the official notice up on here.

One riding change in the Cup already and CRIS has a notice (I can't post) that says that there could be riding changes in the Perth Cup owing to need to be double vaccinated

I assume this is not a WA situation only.  As I understand it all participants in the other states are required to be double vaxed.

The last Ruling brought out, that I heard, was if a crowd of 1000 or more was expected than everyone at that venue had to be double vaccinated.
They obviously think, that will be the case.
Gee racing ,would be in trouble if you didnt get those numbers at the Perth Cup,

arapaho, read my post 1.54pm today..all is explained.
a lot of hob-nob tickets would have been pre sold.
i imagine the crowd to be way, way down considering the limitations. i'd hate to be security as i imagine there would be more than a few "altercations" from a few that are not aware of the restrictions.
a lot of the "younger crowd" will just rock up oblivious.....sit back and watch...popcorn sold at the gates.

What’s the riding change? And I think this years crowd will be very good. With no nightclubs and music festivals allowed this year, I think the Perth Cup will be the only event in the city for young people to head to

Oh Jason Whiting has been replaced by Peter Knuckey

Think the younger ones will be onto it (thru social media sites) thinking the older brigade may be more at risk here. I am more interested in people who have bought tickets "to party" or have a good time free of any restrictions as was the case just a week ago ? Will PR refund their money as they have technically now bought tickets to a completely different event. It would be like buying tickets to the Rolling Stones and having Phil Collins come on stage

I think they’ll turn a blind eye to the whole “sit down and drink only” aspect of the restrictions. It’s nearly
Impossible to police with so many people at the races
  • thefalconthefalcon    20,495 posts
they'll have to get in plenty of chairs and bench seats....

Don't think they can afford too, will be watched like hawks. This is the first event in WA with vaccine ID cards, reckon there will be cops everywhere
