Final Fields aren't thro yet but looking like being some cracker races.

1000m sprint
UR v Dark target v 3 Amigos v Metal Squall

Will UR have the dash to go with the speedsters? Will he be able to run them down carrying 3kg more??

Dante's Banquet - can it keep its impressive form going??

Henry The Pharoah facing a stronger lineup - can he continue to improve?

The babies come out to play for the first time?? who has impressed most at trials?

Apprentices Challenge on aswell

Looking like nice weather - suggest anyone that can get out there to have a look.

Hadabeclorka is doubtful I think - would be a great story for it to get back tho, maybe next week over 1100m

***** Well looks like he has been accepted for with J Whiting to ride - Im sure the stable will just be hoping he gets around safely and a good pipe opener to a successful campaign.

I am curious to see how Dark Target goes this campaign outside of 3YO company, not convinced he will handle open class, only time will tell...

The Pharoah can improve another 3 lengths on last week if he stops playing up, but I don't see him turning that around in the space of 1 week. This field won't be much tougher than last week after acceptances and will win again if he gets a run and doesn't lay in on other horses.

Yep good luck with henry saturday mate  As you should have beaten DT last prep im sure you are very interested.

1000m race looks a 2 horse race to me,depending on how 3 amigo's handles breezing and not leading as he is unlikely to cross DT??...metal squall playing for 3rd money and re UR Tivers unlikley to shed any light on this :P .. but i think Uni will be "fine tuning" in this dash personally.
Of course if the 2 upfront go berserk, anything could happen..........
  • octaviusoctavius    2,290 posts
To be fair DT was carrying something like 6kg more and was a gutsy win to hold on after being challenged by the Twain and then Henry late.

But because he likes to score from start to finish I'm just not sure how he will handle holding off the older and better horses.

I'm a big fan of his and it will be interesting to watch his campaign.

the 1000m dash should be a very tactful affair

I think DT connections may opt for a sit if Three Amigos comes out firing like he can. Maybe same goes for Metal Squall?? Just cant see anything wanting to go with this speed demon early.

Then there is a question of horses like Mythalo, Wire Detonator and Centrum who can muster early if so desired.

If there is a speed battle then it really opens the race up for most of the others with Anna's Choice and maybe Northwater Boy plus UR and Diamond Highway very capable of reeling off a quick finish and getting over the top.

One things for sure they have saved the best for last and Jockeys will be aware of any pattern coming into it so if its a leaders track then prepare to see sparks fly.
  • TheSwooperTheSwooper    1,718 posts
Danny on MS will go forward for sure. Three Amigos is one of my favourite horses. Very honest but is going to have to do it hard. Centrum is back to its right trip but had a tough run last start and could end up anywhere from its barrier.

I can see the toppie getting a good cart up and getting over the top of em. Anna's Choice will be steaming home late.

MG pretty pumped(or was it pissed  )when commenting on the gangemi flyer....could be a ripper, might go low 57's ?

If Dark Target is gonna win this prep, this would be it. Flies fresh (which is usually over 1000m too).

What was the consensus on Universal last start. Too fresh? Should he be forgiven?
  • TheDivaTheDiva    13,248 posts
Just seen the final fields - some races are really small which is disapointing esp the Apprentices Challenge with only 1 local Jock.
  • TheSwooperTheSwooper    1,718 posts
1st 5 races pay 1-2. Should be plenty of value then!

Thats pretty poor isnt it ! 50K a pop and cant get 10 or a dozen runners...

Check the stewards reports for race 8 in the race book..........Have you ever seen a bigger collection of trouble makers ???
Not sure I've ever seen a single race fill a whole page before, and spread so evenly over the whole field !!!

a nice race spoiled by the conditions.
be interested to see the turnover it generates.
think they have done away with these gimmicks elsewhere, and if haven't then should.
might take my holiday to heaven a day earlier, not worth hanging around for this meeting.
best race on card is ruined.

although there's a good lay in the last i reckon!!

One of those horses running with the "bubble cheeker" on Saturday is Henry...looks like they are clutching at straws now...or could it be the answer!

    Indeed; Dark Target.

Not saying Hadabeclorka will win the race, but I doubt I saw a horse race through the grades here as impressively as he did at Ascot last year.
The best win I've seen at Ascot since Marasco was Hadabeclorka in the last on Perth Cup day. He went from being no hope to being home in two strides, Lord Baumay who does go ok got windburn. Freakish it was.

Anyone know what injury he's coming back from??

u don't reckon ur is a lay at this distance?
imo near best miler in perth(IF on song).....but 1000m?

doubt i'd be keen to lay dark target though

and what about the ruination of r5!!??

i said i thought they had...and also said..if they haven't then they should.
and if mv has that, then they're not too smart either.

how is it good for turnover when second best race on card has most horses ridden by jockeys you've never heard of before?
one look at riders automatically made it a no-bet race for me, and am sure i would have bet because it's a good field.

    Im thinking
    DK Target-a special
    Cassandara Shadow a weight specila
    Sleepwalk [flies fresh]
Valentine Miss [weighted to win again form stacks up]
Dantes Banquet[winning form is good mform]
Diego De la Vega[moral beaten last start ready to win]
Awesome Force [got in trouble last start hit line well]

What a hard day of racing 4 of mine[ are being ridden by kids ouchhhh]

Im thinking also Chloe [the jesteress] is now with Edwards racing but so is Benny So ??? so who gets the rides ????? thats interesting good luck to her i reckon she is a gun might get more opputunity at Ascot !!.

With Three Amigos in the race if they dont take a sit with DT they are stupider than i thought. Hopefully the horse can settle this time in, if he does nothing will get near him on Saturday.

Very keen to see Hadabeclorka return too, the horse has gears.

Cassandara Shadow is extremely well placed with claim. Ben So doesn't actually excite but if he's patient till the gap opens she'll run over the top of them.
I've seen a prepost of $1.75 which is ugly. Will throw in Remilio for multiples, hoping it'll jump better with blinkers.

i believe he cracked a sesamoid.

    Found this Blake:

In an encouraging development, star Bunbury six-year-old Hadabeclorka is set to return to training if a veterinary check is all clear this week. The Brent Larsson trained son of Hurricane Sky won his last four races at Ascot before injuring a sesamoid bone in February and has since had five months in the paddock.

He will have an X-ray in Bunbury this week and if everything is good and clear he will go straight to back Brents, managing part owner Bevan Jilley said on Sunday.

His sesamoid injury put him out of the Bunbury Stakes and he has had five months off since. The horse will bought along slowly so there are no set plans, Jilley added.

I think 3 or 4 of the babies in race One might step up to the plate and give a really good show. Will they be champs of any kind. 2moro will answer that. 8)

I saw I Owe You's 1st trial at Lark Hill and was impressed with him then, since has come out and won his latest trial. Plus with a vested interest in his sire with our mare dropping a colt by him this year I would love to see a perfect start in Australia.
