    Sounds good to me. The govt could swap the land at Cockburn plus cash, and we could have a dedicated selling complex too.

    If it's sold, I wish it were possible to dig it up and take it with them. It's the best surface I've ever punted on.

    should build it with no patron facilities no need to go to the races anymore can watch tv in aircon comfort and put the money back into racing its not as if the crowds make for the atmosphere like football

    This is a good idea but doubt it will happen for a while.

    Cant imagine PR selling the land cheap, cant imagine the Government paying overs.

    A condition should be that the money if sold should be quarantined in some way. Given the WATC history they will blow the money quickly.

    should explore more options, concentrating on the south could be a mistake. should look at north and east where the land is much cheaper and less likely to be bought out in the future. a lot of the stables near Lark Hill are very valuble development properties.

    50 cents a go to use PORTABLE TOILETS and $ 3--50 a day for hire of SUNSHADE personal umbrella's. Would be Back in the Black quick smart. Wish I had thought of that. lol.

    We discussed this on this forum more than 2 years ago!

    A dedicated track (north, east or south of the CBD) with land available for trainers to build stable complexes around the track would be quite suitable.

    Peter Austin makes a lot of sense in his bit on the issue which is sperate from the above article

    I liked his idea of serperating RWWA up with 2 arms - one for administation of racing codes and the other for the TAB

    well there you go , if i could be bothered looking, i am pretty sure one guy named cubed or cubes jumped down my throat, for suggesting it was wrong that rwwa controlled it all because of the obvious conflicts.

    The best wet weather track in Aust and they want to get rid of it, why does the track have to be south of the river and not north of the river?

    Amazing how Barnett wont even look at some of Carpenters ideas, its Belmont or nothing

    We have a Premier stalling on any significant infrastructure announcement for his whole term, until announcing that the Turf Club must sell its Winter Track for the good of the populace.
    Right after agreeing with the most ridiculous Flood Tax by a typical Labor Govt who couldnt fiscally control a piss-up in the preverbial brewery, when the Budget is in a controlled surplus.

    Only thing that would save Belmont, will be night racing and a major upgrade of facilities. Still think a dedicated horse racing precinct and new track within 20kms of the CBD would be a pretty good idea IMO.

    Take the money and run property market could dive further any time soon just need to find a suitable venue? the money will be needed to prop up racing over the next few decades.
    Put the night racing and great facilities in the new venue with land for trainers only downside is losing great racing surface and location but cant have everything.

    $385m less the purchase cost of new site, unless it's Lark Hill?
    Construction of facilities. Would be lucky to end up with $100m.
    I doubt there is enough space at Cockburn, so anywhere else will most likely be a logistical nightmare.
    Unless it is in a convenient location, even night racing wont pull a crowd.
    They'd be better off redeveloping Belmont into our premier track and flogging off Ascot if need be.

    If the people at PR cant manage a manageable debt then they should move on and get some people in there who can.

    with the way this commitee has gone through money I would hate to think that this beautiful and only assett will end up at a shit hole like Cockburn where the polution is one of the worst in Australia, and probably right next to Motorplex raceway, thats why it is there. Fair dinkum what are these people thinking. Racing here will be destroyed within the next five years if we dont get some new people with some idea in there.

    Yep - flogging off Ascot would be a guaranteed winner, seeing as they (we) don't own it.

    I've got a lovely statue of a lady holding a torch we can sell too to chip in.
    Comes with it's own island and a lovely view :lol:

    Got to say, yes............be 0% chance of me attending races at Cockburn.
    Could be a good spot becoming available in Subi though ;)

    never get me to Cockburn eitherr, sounds like they are giving away the least attractive piece of land for a prime piece of perth real estate.

    So richest state should go for the cheapest option ?

    Read on anyway.............only says up front it's most expensive. Long term staying at Subi is most expensive.
