Dmac not doing his job properly so that all owners and punters get the correct information is fully acceptable from time to time....not getting it right cos he is mentioning someones birthday is disrespectful, to owners and poor form for punters IMO

Just an example of dozens of howlers over many years the bloke is with the cat catchers as a caller give me Greg miles any day
Yep it's a tough gig true mistakes get made true I make em you guys make em he just makes too many as the Priemer caller in WA

i was going to put my 2 bobs worth in but will keep my trap shut..as nick august used to say "an open mouth attracts flys"
i thought the gesture of lauding john wilsons 78th was great.
maybe i am biased, he won 2 perth cups for my uncle bob.

jeez, you blokes are cruel....the guy calls how many races a week?
the top callers in the east at least get some time off during the week. darren can be at ascot sat, pinjarra sunday, ascot weds and bunbury thurs.

Spending every Saturday on a ladder and walking around in the heat, gives me loads of time to sometimes think why do I do this. Certainly my family would prefer that I didn't as between the actual shooting of the images and the editing, it takes sometimes as much as 12 hours to process. Saturday's are a right off as a result.
So when you hear ill informed comments from someone who really should be more accountable as a member of an organisation that indirectly benefits from my patronage, you do question is it all worth it.
The short answer is no. Perth Racing by pure dumb luck, are the only game in town if you like sports photography and horse racing. As much as I would like to, the regional areas just are too difficult to cover 100% especially when I donate my time and the considerable amount of money invested in my movie and stills productions. I enjoy my time going to Northam, but after filming at 14 separate race meetings and driving around town to interview sponsors for that short film I did there last year, I thought I had given enough. I only wish Bunbury was just a bit closer, I would enjoy doing something like that as well down there but the distance makes it out of the question.
I do have a strong family commitment in coming years that will impact on my Racing photography. So when it is all said and done, comments from the likes of Eddie Rigg, only assist me in making those moves earlier rather than later.
i chose to be a chemical and mineral application expert..i'd suggest dmac would struggle at my job as much as i would struggle at his,,
the comment, to do his job is ridiculous.....what most of us want is for him to do his job better. if i made mistakes weekly i wouldn't have a job!!!!

once he says it's cantering, or it's off and gone, it then becomes tear up your ticket time.
it does not matter if this is a race caller love in, it's the truth.
he should concentrate on calling the race, and forget the stuff he habitually gets wrong.

Darrens been making mistakes for years and adding his personal touches . hes not going to start apologising now. Its not going to change the result.
The divide between Damien and Theo is probably political as anything. Theyre at opposite ends of the spectrum. Not proffessional to be spatting on here though. Just read the holden site.
Try working in the horse industry to understand hot and uncomfortable every day.
I thought the photography gig was up for tender in the new year Damien.
That won't be me for a couple of reasons. Firstly, any application by myself would be binned in a heartbeat by the committee of Perth Racing, such is their publicly displayed contempt for me. Secondly, I have little interest in replacing what they currently have, as the brief is uninspiring standing on a finish line.
Most importantly for me though, is that I do not wish to have any association with Perth Racing, wherein I would be beholding to them for my financial security. In all good conscious I would feel that I had caste aside my standards for the sake of a couple of bucks.
They are simply not worth that to me.

There is a very good reason why loyld Williams watches horse racing in his luxury man cave with no sound as he reckons commentators cloud the race an as a purist he likes to watch the race
I often do the same most of us can remember colours for a few mins at home
Ffs on track you can't even hear the commentator try standing by the tables right of the mounting yard the speakers don't even work
Best way is to know your colours as a ew punter as a novelty punter use your ph for placings they beat the infield board by a good minute or more every time
Macca is not in the top 10 callers in the country an for accuracy he's a cat face the facts the history over years is there for all to hear
