Overpaid soccer players!
Sport
Seriously, you look at the pay packets of the top ten and you wonder why?
I know they have talent, but do we over pay sports people?

Saying that I feel sorry for say an Aussie hockey player. He may well be in the top 10 players in the country the equilevant of say Joel Selwood in terms of top players in the country. Selwood is on $800k a year the hockey player works part time to get by. I feel sorry but thems the breaks Aussie rules reins king we know.
What really does my head in though is the way we will bag an athlete competing at an international level yet swoone over a mediocre AFL player. Great example is James Magnussen, by far the best in the country but couldn't quite get it done at the Olympics and plenty out there wanted to give it to him. in reality he is on a par with Garry Ablett, no pier in the country. But he competes with 7billion people compared to 24million of an Aussie rules player. Cricket the same Phil Hughes is a freak his state record is fantastic, state cricket is a much harder level than AFL when you look at 120 state contracted cricketers compared with 650 contracted AFL footballers yet Phil Hughes is constantly bagged. Imagine if the USA or Russia played AFL maybe there'd be some guys that right now are regarded as fantastic but couldn't handle international level..........
Ok I'm way off topic but this gets me all the time every time I hear talk back radio say a guy like Scott Selwood is a star.......
