Got a feeling this poor devil has been silenced by the powers to be, cos we are all a negative bunch of twits that you could never keep happy and should never try to....

It'd be so nice to see this club embrace regular punters and encourage them to participate, but not to be.

I got another e-mail today telling me how great the club is and how wonderful the opening day will be. Nothing about the types of horses racing, how the track will play, what has been done to make the viewing and punting more enjoyable .

Of course they do promote all the wonderful eating options - as members we should have that covered I think!!

And the all purpose promotional jargon of.. A sense of Belonging...hahaha, as long as you tell everyone what a wonderful job they are doing you belong...If you question anything or have a different idea, then you aren't allowed to voice that and definitely not given...........A sense of Belonging

Let's see what happens when Ted is no longer in the building. I'd push hard for a parliamentary enquire into the sustained inability of a club to return a profit, but that'd be a waste of money too, as they are all protected from a being accountable by an act of parliament... I've never known such a poor structured and run club in my 25 years of being on club and community boards...

The first stage of Perth Racing’s five-year master plan will be unveiled when racing returns to a new-look Ascot racecourse tomorrow.

Crown Perth Opening Day marks the launch of the Ascot carnival and racegoers will get their first look at the result of more than $4 million of upgrades to the grandstand and members’ floor.

Modern and sophisticated bars are the highlights of the members’ floor, which has been transformed.

“Saturday is the starting point of a new phase for Perth Racing,” PR vice-chairman Neil Pinner said.

“Last year we spent $1.8 million on the first floor for the public.

“This year we have spent $1.8 million on the outer parts of the grandstand, which is all about having the best possible racing event in Australia.

“We gutted the members’ floor and spent $2.4 million on it.

“It’s now a high-class facility for hospitality, food and beverages.

“It’s not just about this opening day.

“It’s about next year’s opening day and the opening day in five years’ time.”

A new-look mounting yard and a new bar for winning owners and trainers are part of PR’s plan to promote the excitement of racing.

In a new celebratory format, the stall for the winning horse has been separated from the placegetters and also faces the grandstand.

“If you go to all the major tracks around Australia, they are engaging the horse and the theatre of the horse,” Pinner said.

“We’re going to bring in everyone around the horse and celebrate the winners.

“The Vantage Bar will bring owners and trainers in together so people will see them celebrate their wins and encourage them to buy horses and get into the racing industry.”

Fashion will also take centre stage tomorrow with the WA final of the Myer Fashions on the Field in the Myer Marquee.

The new Ascot Central area features the bookmakers’ ring, pop-up bars and interactive entertainment.

On the track, some of WA’s best gallopers will contest the $150,000 Northerly Stakes and $100,000 Belgravia Stakes.

They are crucial lead-ups to Ascot’s biggest race day, Super Saturday on November 21.

I wish them well for opening day. I have seen a couple of bus's with promo material on the back, but no real indication that it all starts tomorrow. They are doing regular Facebook updates to their readership fanbase, which is about three times the number of crowd they will get.

I think they just need to connect more. One more thing, tomorrow being opening day should be free.

    Excellent improvements!

Though an improvement I've already thought of, is to open the Stone Motherless bar to the owners of the horse that runs last in each race like the winner gets to go up to the Owners bar........

Diva & Chris may actually get an invite there.....no chance in the other one :>

thanks to you Gaz, we'd get an invite for sure!  ~X(

Also the pop up stalls (I assume food stalls). A brilliant idea, but I think that has been suggested by former PR employees years ago, but never got legs.
Having said that, no good having pop up stalls if you dont get the people on course to patronise them.
Still nothing in social media about these positive things that would definitely entice more people on course.

The Stone Motherless bar sounds really good. I look forward to getting there in a few weeks on Vic Derby Day

Where is all the info you guys have coming from.....The Wes cast??? Was it on Racing radio?? when was the last time anyone went to track work or a trainers property and heard that tuned in??

What commercial station do they advertise on?? I've heard a bit on 1080am over the past month, but it really was only for a couple of days.

I can't believe that RWWA and Perth Racing haven't seen the light and handed over the running of the racing industry to the collective geniuses on this forum. The streets of Ascot would be paved in gold in no time. ^:)^

Well the current mob have set a benchmark over the past decade that wouldn't be hard to surpass!!

IMO (coz that is what these comment boards are for) RWWA are doing an okay job. PR on the other hand are a complete failure and for so many people to continue in their roles over this period highlights how little of a Fuuuuck any of them actually care about the club they are meant to be building.

Pathetic, only had the whole Belmont season to have the track cherry ripe, these blokes over here couldn't organise a root in a brothel with a fist full of 50's

How can you take this place seriously??? Fair dinkum the grass where I do a bit of exercise has no sprinklers, certainly wouldn't get any fertiliser and as green as you will ever see.
