Great read. Love the comments below.
Getting his just desserts in my opinion (although I doubt the Fatman needs it)

Anyone who thinks this is a necessary way of doing business in Hong Kong or Asia has got this completely wrong. There is no indication here that the HK buyer did anything wrong. The problem here is what happened after Callander had $200k paid into his account and what Callander didn't tell the owners. Anyone who thinks that's an appropriate way of doing business either as an agent or syndicate manager shouldn't be in the industry.

One section of the industry publicly not too happy with him - don't imagine they're alone

99 out of 100 horses sold to HK have 2 different prices. 1 for the original owners and 1 for those who negotiated the deal (99 out of 100 not disclosed either).

Chinese and HK business (not just horses) revolves around kickbacks and rorts.

The problem with selling to HK is, it is almost impossible to deal with the new owners directly.

Callander`s paper trail implicates him but nearly every horse sold to HK is sold with a kickback to someone.

And if you don`t like the way it works you simply won`t be selling to HK.

More likely 3 - also a different price for the HK agents who purchased the horse, and what the eventual HK owners pay.

C Waller was an owner in the horse as well so he either knew about it or was ripped off as well.

"The inquiry heard that Waller sent an email to Callander and Prior at 9.13 am on October 28, 2014 asking what
price Lil Caesar had been sold for."

Would have to assume from that he had nfi what price it had been sold for - wonder what the reply was??

Waller would have had no idea.

Liam Prior is his foreman and "enjoys" a bet. The 24 large would have been very welcome!!.

He and Waller were very close and Waller would have trusted Prior to do the right thing. I'd reckon that relationship is over.

From what I have heard from my bookie relative in Sydney, the less I say about Richie, the better. He has been very well described here and on other forums.

in other words he is a fat, ignorant p*ick of a man......a disgrace to his dad and his academic brother.

Entitled would be a good way to describe him. I have no issue with him being a punt drunk. If he wants to bet on every race that's his business. Can't stand his personality though.

G1X must be feeling a bit miffed. Callander was a mouth piece of some standing with them. A so called expert or something. His ethics in this matter have been called to account. I haven't read anywhere where they have distanced themselves from this matter.

Now I'm getting bombarded with bloodstock purchases that they have made and are looking for people to buy into. They also promote corporate bookmaking which by sheer co-incidence, contribute nothing to WA.

They have rung me just the once, I was playing Golf at the time so I gave them only a few moments, so I guess I should be grateful for that, but I'm wondering what is next.

Not defending corporate bookmakers in any way Damien but your statement regarding nil contribution is incorrect.

They are required to pay a levy on turnover on WA product under Race Fields Legislation which eventually finds its way to RWWA.

The same applies to other TABs and conversely RWWA has to pay other jurisdictions for the product that it imports.

i think they only have to pay it if they pass a certain dollar value of bets....try and find anywhere where it states how much they have paid since that ruling was made...Oh and who tells RWWA or RGL how much they have bet??????? Pretty sure it is done on a honour system!!!!! hahahahaha

I also note mostly by surprise, that Adam McGrath from Perth Racing is doing some media work for them at the Inglis Sale in Melbourne this week.

That's correct rio, it is an honour system. If their turnover on wa racing is less than a certain percentage of their total turnover, their figures are NOT audited by RGL so they can pay anything they like effectively.

Agree but in his case he's been quick to make jokes about the appearance of others, yet is sensitive when others return serve. But calling him a hypocrite is hardly breaking news

He has fingers in many pies , so is he a full time PR employee ? Definately a head for radio or is that politically incorrect for this topic, as some upset Richies appearance mentioned  :>

Dr. Turf gave Richard Callender a real bake on SEN this morning saying that he could get 3 years for what he's done.

Why that was interesting, is because it's not common knowledge that the good Doctor is an investor in G1X.

If it happens to collapse because of this scandal, it won't affect the Doc too much. he's worth millions.

BL were you a follower of Punter To Punter where Dr Turf surfaced along with Trevor Marmalade, Tracey Harvey & another called Con Marasco. I wonder if the horse named Marasco came from that?

Callander would have skin in G1X. All those ex TVN wads invested.

The WA boy would wanna choose his roles thoughtfully. The G1X business model some would label unsavoury.

    Loose Goose,
I did follow their show and they were very funny.

I have known the Doc for a long time. He's a naturally very funny man, and no mug. His old man made a squillion and he and his brother and sister have certainly reaped the benefit. Generally speaking, he's a $200 punter, and for his financial position, isn't a huge punter, but likes to bet on everything This may sound contradictory, but he can also be very disciplined with his punting.

He announced on his 60th birthday last year, that, following a separation, he had reconciled with his wife and they are back together. Some people I know don't fancy her, but I have always found her to be a very nice person.

He and Trevor, real name Jason Vanderveldt, apologies if I haven't spelled his surname correctly, have been mates for a long time. I'm not 100% sure now, my memory, along with other things, is fading. But I think that Jason was best man at the Docs wedding.

I only met Trevor a couple of times at the races, and found him, like a lot of comedians, to be almost an introvert. Totally different from his on screen persona. Didn't say much, but when he did join in the conversation, did seem to be a nice bloke.

'Trevor' was just scoping the room for material. Don't you watch Seinfeld @bookielover?

I know it's not the ABC but he probably should disclose this fact before he offers praise or criticism.
