    Plenty of $15 available Ventura Storm earlier in the week, then specking into $12 and finally smashed into about $6.
    Hayes said will go forward. Perfect ride - just where he needed to be. Trap For Fools typical good run.
    Absolute dynamite for on pacers.

    Yes 1st and 2nd....leader, leaders back. Libran and The Barman go close otherwise.

    Disgraceful that the suits wouldn't give Trap For Fools a start in the contrived Cox Plate....fantastic effort today and at $10 and $3.20 the place, thanks very much.He ran out of his skin.

    Had to be a chance of running 3rd, 4th or 5th in the Cox Plate Trap For Fools especially with the way on pacers have gone today.
    As far as The Taj Mahal concerned he was exhausted after the CC! A bridge too far for him today.

    How's Who Shot The Barman - 10 years old, out of form and runs a good fourth. Does not say a lot for the rest of them. Great old horse that he is.
    They only wanted two : Ventura Storm finished at just $5.50 and The Taj Mahal a skinny $3.80.
    The rest blew right out in the market.

    Never gave up Benbatl beaten by a freak of nature. Seven year old mare too.
    Amazing how they've all been mares. Makybe Diva, Black Caviar, Winx.

    Kings Will Dream was awkward and slow into stride again. Pulled up.
    Avilius was just fair ? Humidor very good. The other three...thanks for coming.

    synthetic progesterone altrenogest - regu-mate. Usage has to be an advantage.
    On the mare, she donkey licked them in a canter. To easy. Only Autumn Sun (possibly) could stop her from getting a fifth. Nothing else is close.

    She’s a mighty Mare but I also look forward to the day she retires so I don’t have to mute my TV every time she wins.

    Yes, I’m talking about you Debbie %-(

    Benbatl is probably the 3rd or 4th best middle distance horse in Europe...he was beaten by five lengths by Roaring Lion....says something doesnt it...Benbatl was beaten by Winx by roughly 1.5 lengths.

    Well done trk...went looking for value..but that was the value with hindsight haha.
    He seemed to ride Benbatl well too, thought in running Humidor or Avilius might run on and catch him but he held them easily on the line.

    @Ridersonthestorm33 I didn't bet on the race so I can't take those plaudits. Well done to those who did though

    Different race though. I mean Rostropovich was beaten 0.5len in the Irish Derby and Saxon Warrior(odds on) was another 0.5len in third. Saxon Warrior had mixed results against Roaring Lion but his last valiant effort before being retired due to injury was a close 2nd.

    Winx pulled out 4 wide and just sat there without much urging to the corner. Benbatl was under hard riding for a fair bit before that, and to his credit, responded. The margin is greater past the line which meant she could have won by more. I wasn't thrilled with a couple of her strides in the home straight but she can only put so much of a margin in a world class horse over 180m

    Not sure what to make of Aramayo's run in the Vase. Was outside the winner in the run and then ended up making a long run very wide whilst the winner broke its maiden by taking all the gaps(no pun intended). Aramayo just ain't a Valley horse and can still win the derby on that run.

    Comparing their records, Winx has a better CV than Phar Lap.
    Best ever?
    Royal Ascot to stick it up the naysayers in the UK, then retirement?

    What did you make of Avilius and Rostoprovich runs @trk....looking towards the Melbourne Cup that is ?
    Will be surprised if Rostoprovich plays a part if he runs. Avilius I'm 50/50 about.
    Flemington 3200 might be for him, but still thought might have finished off a bit better.

    Probably too late for that now. Do they bring her back in the next year or is that The Autumn Sun's time to shine. It doesn't help that Waller trains both-or perhaps it just means TAS runs in the Randwick Guineas & Doncaster whilst Winx goes George Ryder & Queen Elizabeth?

    @Ridersonthestorm33 I haven't really looked into the runs beyond Benbatl & Winx. I noted that there was the thought that the CP wasn't the main target for Rostoprovich but the CP has ceased to be important from a MC perspective. I won't doubt AOB but i think it's relevant that Lloyd dodged a CC penalty to ensure Yucatan has its best chance. It's fav though so it's likely gonna be the same price on cup day and no need to rusg in just yet

    One record about Phar Lap never to be surpassed is he won on all four days of the Flemington Spring Carnival...on the Saturday, Tuesday ( Cup ), Thursday, Saturday. :-O Four wins in a week.

    The vet would have been busy that week :-\"

    His heart was 1.5 times bigger than the average horse. Not surprising - to win four races in a week.

    The horse who finished 2nd to the mighty mare the champion Winx in the Cox Plate (Benbatl) is Europe's fourth or fifth best middle distance horse and yet he comes to Australia and finishes 2nd in Australia's richest WFA race, beaten by Winx with the margin being 2 lengths. Let's not forget that Roaring Lion beat Benbatl by five lengths in Europe. That just shows once again how strong Europe's mddle distance horses (and staying horses) are in terms of depth and quality in numbers. I'd like to see Australia's fourth or fifth best middle distance horses perform overseas...the result....they would get beaten.

    @PC You're cherry picking the best of Roaring Lion's runs and then using it against Winx's Cox Plate run, which probably wasn't her best this prep, nor was the Turnbull for that matter. Roaring Lion scrambled home-albeit dropping back in distance-on Champions Day. If you want an accurate measuring stick then his most recent run-i.e last weekend- is the only one that counts as far as challenging Winx today. Cracksman is another matter though but even he mixes his form.

    I am not holding it against Winx. All i am saying is that European middle distance and staying horses are better then ours in terms of quality in numbers

    Roaring Lion is one of their best and he doesn't beat Winx imo

    You forgot So You Think. How this horse is constantly forgotton is beyond me. He was a true international star and beat world class horses away from home....in all he won five G1 races in the northern hemisphere & five G1 races in the southern hemisphere. Not many Australasian horses have done that which is win multiple Group 1s in both hemispheres.

    Ratings will say Winx was the better horse and Winx's record will show it's better then So You Think's record but lets rememver that he only had 23 starts in his career. I am still of the firm belief that So You Think would seriously challenge Winx...he was a very very good horse...quite simply...he was a champion.

    After weighing it all up (and a lot of you will probably disagree) but at 2000m...I think Winx beats So You Think by roughly 1.5 lengths, bearing in mind that Winx does get the 2kgs mares allowance.

    Had So You Think stayed in Australia...he would of won a third Cox Plate and maybe even a fourth.

    Not many horses have run in all of these big races of world racing including:

    * G1 Melbourne Cup (3200m): 3rd

    * G1 Arc De Triomphe (2400m): 4th

    * G1 Dubai World Cup (2000m): 4th

    * G1 Breeders Cup on Dirt (2000m): 6th

    So You Think's worst overseas performance in terms of finishing order was 6th in Breeders Cup Dirt...his first attempt on dirt and he finished only 3.25 lengths behind the winner.

    He was pushed out to the distance of 3200min the Melbourne Cup which was the first time he had raced beyond 2040m.

    Let us never forget the globetrotter called So You Think.
