Pay to get in, make the effort to be at the track and then (slap across the face), "two pints please", "that'll be $25 thanks mate".
$12.50 a pint (lets not go food prices!).
Please - isn't, say, $9 a pint fair.
Going to the races in Perth is an expensive day out - it shouldn't be.

$12.50 a pint. Obviously the memo about the boom being over hasnt made its way to garrett road headquarters

Free entry has been raised on this forum a number of times.
I am yet to hear a counter argument from the "powers that be" to refute the free entry suggestion.
It must have something to do with the revenue or lost revenue from the "no ticket sales" for Perth Racing.
Maybe the revenue from alcohol, gambling and food get channeled into "non preferred" areas ??
Perhaps free entry takes away from corporate marquee sales where prices are thru the roof.
Be nice to get some transperancy on this one.

i think the liqour licence prohibits them from running the specials. Its a throwback to the good ol days when perth cup was all about debauchary. Licence conditions have well and truly tightened up drastically because of it.

I reckon the trots had the right idea a few years ago. It cost about $10 or $12 entry and that included 3 or 4 half-price drink vouchers and a couple of half-price food vouchers. Even if you did your dough on the punt you didn't walk away at the end of the night feeling like you'd just been gouged which meant you were more inclined to come back again.

Not to mention, if you can’t afford entry, what are you doing gambling and buying beer? ????
Who needs to get people back into the sport? It’s second only to AFL for attendance Australia wide.
The term “racing product” is actually a legal term and is stated on the interactive gambling amendment. Link below.

I understand what you’re saying. But I’m 27 and am part of the next generation. Nothing keeps me away from a place for me more than a bunch of scungy bogan or worse... KIDS.
I’d rather pay the money to go somewhere a little upper class than a place tha will allow any rift raft in.
It’s a classy venue. I think the entry fee keeps it that way.
