Looks to me they don't want racing down that way. they want racing in metro, pinj and bunbury. Centralise racing, centralise servicing, you centralise and save costs.

Probably go back & have a read around Vinnie on past history, the club has brought this problem on themselves from the previous Board & Administration, and things do not appear to have improved if RWWA were forced to make this decision

Im well aware of what has happened. Just seems very convenient Rwwa throw their hands up and say “fu:k it, too hard, u guys sort it”
I suppose they have better things to do like organise their next racing junket

RWWA believe that if you shrink the footprint it will grow the industry, industry participants are our best customer.

What the club needs have to move forward is an honest and transparent board, which we have not had. ARC need a board with no connection to the old board or the charged manager or nothing will change.
I've heard the comments of in fighting and divisions in the club, that is BS
We have been sending emails and many phone calls to RWWA about our concerns over the last few years, that was a waste of time. To be told they can't interfere with the running of the clubs. We are not whingers, we knew something wasn't right
When you have business men, a justice of the peace, a retired nurse on the board you would think the club stood a chance. What a joke.
Their way of dealing with me was to suspend my membership for two years for bringing the club into disrepute.. I might add that I was suspended on the eve of tbe AGM..
I don't believe in hiding behind anonymous names, I put my name to everything I did and do.

It's been a long drawn out couple years.
I lost my membership for 2 years for trying to make the board and management accountable..
I have all faith that Alan Smith will get the club to where it needs to be.

Some selective reporting does not help the rumour mills, todays West at least puts some detail to the reason the Board all stepped down, so a special meeting can be held to elect a new board, but where do you get new board members from, and in the current state the expertise to dig out of the previous Board & Managers financial mine shaft.  I am not sure why the Board from last year, are not questioned by RWWA (maybe they have), as to how this happened under there watch.

Being in business many years ago in the Goldfields, we also learnt a hard lesson (not illegally), you cannot just give the "keys" to someone & let them control the whole show, there has to be accountability, on spending etc

Herd alan on the radio saying they had to pay out the previous manager, anyone care to expand on that? Given as one of the reasons for the current issues

She resigned just before RWWA pulled ARC licence to race as far as I know.
  • lynkiddlelynkiddle    7 posts
I think the problems are bigger than paying her out, imo.

As far as I know she resigned, so why would she need paying out? But the previous CEO had to take his 16 weeks of stress leave (funny that, he caused all the stress!). And on top of that claims he never received holiday pay so better add that on too - no wonder that Club is broke. Honestly the world is f@$ed these days, once a con man always a con man, always a rort to be had if you are that type of human.

I have to agree with you on that ladygodiva. I also think the board who resigned shouldn't be allowed to renominate. I'd like to see them have their membership suspended for bringing the ARC into disrepute.

Maybe they should take a look at Esperance race club to get a bit of advise on how to run a club. They all have racing in their heart and most work done is voluntary with one of the best tracks in the state.

ESPERANCE RACE CLUB IS THE BEST! Passionate Committee, well run Club. Hugely financial, f fabulous track, can't ask for better than that. Yes, ARC could take a leaf out of their book. Well paid staff, but not over the top, operating within their means.

  • I 100% agree with you lynkiddle that any board members who resigned should not be allowed to renominate.  The ARC will only be in the same or worse position than its in now! There's plenty of members that would want to try to get the club back. And before anyone asks I'm not a member.

Some should not be in a postion to renominate, but the likes who have just come on board like the current President should, as they have jumped on to fix the problems.

Seems to be a few that are close to the situation at ARC commenting here, just wondering was the ARC in a good  financial situation a couple of years a go or has it been struggling for awhile
  • warrenrobinsonwarrenrobinson    590 posts
Surely a totally independent person should be appointed to audit the whole situation at ARC. In the past some Harness clubs have been in the same position and RWA have stepped in and financed the clubs. RWA certainly fund some  clubs to help pay salary's and other cost especially the ones that are close to Perth. Fact

I personally have made my concerns very clear for the last few years over certain things going on at the club. That's why my membership was suspended.
My thoughts are the new board should have no connection to the old board or manager. I make an exception to the current president. There needs to be total transparency and honesty to the members, which this club hasnt had for a long time, I'm talking years. You only need to have read the press about the old manager.. I have made no secret of my dislike for him and the board. For someone who has a criminal past, to be in charge of the club is just joke.

How could that ride go unpunished? Cousin Ivan, a stayer 1st up at 1100m was not asked for an effort at all between the 600 and the 400 when it was 2L behind the 2nd last horse. Then when there was clear opportunity to come to the outside, the jock went inside.

Whether intentional or incompetent, that ride deserved a lengthy spell on the sideline. Disgraceful.
Cousin Ivan wins 2nd up breaking a drought of 1693 days. It proves what a disgrace that first up ride was.
