West Australian Racing
As most would know RWWA use centrebet to operate the fixed odds service PLAYER

I am setting up this thread for anyone to post when they get knocked back for a fixed odds bet with PLAYER

or anything else to do with poor service/quality so that those who make the decisions on our wagering services can see this

I am sure 99% of WA punters want to be bet local but its impossible to do so when the quality and service is so far below that of other operations

----------------------

we have to put up with having a Cent-a-bet for a while longer yet

CENTREBET ASX ANNOUNCEMENT, 01/06/2009
Centrebet has now commenced full scale operations under its contract to provide fixed odds betting management to the ACTTAB, Tote Tasmania and Racing & Wagering Western Australia.

Centrebet Managing Director, Con Kafataris, said that for the next three and a half years, Centrebet would manage upwards of $200 million per year in fixed odds betting turnover on behalf of the TABs as well as driving revenue growth through expanded event coverage and new products.

2013 cannot come quick enough

PS - The contract includes an option for the TABs to extend the agreement for a further 18 months at the completion of the three and a half year term.

Please no

incorrect HB. I had asked for $100 ew at $17. By the time I went back after being knocked back, they offered me $14. I asked for $100 ew at $14 and they offered me $34 ew.
I have once again written to Ben Pomatti (for the third time) about this issue, but it seems Player dont really care.
I happily took my $100 ew and had it with one of the corporates at $14.

I have heard back about my complaint to Player. They assure me (as they assured me 3 months ago and three months before that) that they are working on fixing it. They reckon the limits are set lower on Thursdays to protect themselves blah blah blah. They are hard limits blah blah blah and when those limits are met, the punter is offered a reduced stake blah.

Apparently the fix is classified as a "project" not just a technical fix up.........which i find hard to believe. So being government, and being a "project"........well, you can guess the rest!

Anywyay, the first "phase" of the "project" starts in September. god knows how many phases there will be.

So, while Rome is burning, RWWA will fiddle....and fiddle....and fiddle....and by the time they get their act together, we'll all have accounts with Victab and Unitab....whose fixed odds markets WILL BET THEIR CUSTOMERS decent bet sizes and they'll do it now...not in September or 2011 or 2012.

Im afraid the horse has bolted Player!

But please do remember......BET LOCAL OK?

Dont worry Linc, I explained in my emails what the public perception was at present. so they know, but whether they can fix their shop quick enough.....I doubt it.
My mate went to a TAB to back his horse Werd. From memory, he wanted $400 on it.
It knocked him back. The TAB operator told him to try putting through 4 separate tickets for $100 each.....which worked.
So now even the TAB staff are clued into the problem and helping their customers get their bets on, while the top brass fiddle.
  • I have seen bets come back saying max allowed at the price $3 - yet the tickets are for $5 minimum

makes the TAB look even stupider when that happens

great idea for this post della, i like where you're head is at... I made the point that Cbet/Player limits are ridiculously low and weak. I understand how corporates try and protect themselves with prepost liability but they are just a joke. I think it would be interesting if we were to try and back the same horse with IAS, VicTab as well and compare how much we get let on for. Tipping the result will be pretty predictable and consistently show how bad Cbet/Player actually are

A few months ago I posted this:

On Saturday I tried to have $25 on Chris Masten @ $11.50 to get most disp in group B. Player wouldn't let me on and said the maximum bet was $19.

    Their liability would've been $262.50...what the?? ...

Yesterday i went into the tab to back something on player, its an outsider so i wanted a bit each way and maybe a bit extra for the place. Put my ticket through 50 by 75 and its an error. Apparently if you wanna put it thru on the same ticket you have to have the same amount for both win and place, as in each way. so had to write out a 50 win ticket and a 75 place ticket. thats just annoying and easily fixed by the computers

Then David Shortte was on 6pr during the week. He was telling about a bet that had been laid by Player (sorry cant remember what on, might have been a footy game or the election or something) for $50,000.

Begs the question, their limits are fine to take a $50,000 bet at $1.80 or so, but not fine to take some of the bets listed above?

centrebet are a complete joke. anyone who has an account with them should close it immediately. if you are a winning punter, they keep knocking you back, changing cut off times, and disabling you from taking fixed odds.

those of you fortunate enough to get your bet sent to be intercepted by them have to wait several minutes sometimes before you know what the hell is going on with your bet. they come back to you, offering a reduced stake. absolute crap

Interesting interview on Sky News last night with Paul Murray and a head honcho from Cantakeabet discussing gambling on the election. Election punters gambled 5 million dollars and there was more money on the seat results rather than parties head to head. 140 out of about 150 seats won by favourites including some late moves plus a late plunge on John Alexander in Bennelong.

Funniest moment was when the cantakeabet rep revealed someone had placed $100 at $31 on Kevin Rudd being reinstated as Labor leader (funny in itself) and that this had forced the price from $31 down to $27. Now that is a joke

Just recieved this email in regards to being able to multi brownlow bets:

    Good morning Daniel,

I spoke at length with our book management team last week regarding the potential availability of Multi betting for ?Brownlow Medal ? Team Most Votes? markets. Unfortunately, as offering this functionality last year proved extremely costly to the business from a margin perspective, the decision has been made to leave the markets set to ?Singles? only.

From a customer service point of view, we would have liked to enable Multi betting for these markets, however, we also have to take into account that continuing to offer unviable services on a long term basis is not sound business practice.

Thanks Daniel and should you require any further information, please feel free to contact me.

    Kind regards,

    Ben Pomatti

This should be a sticky Della!
  • Here is an interesting one

During the year I had a stack of bets on the Hawks to make the top 8 in AFL

After last week they are guaranteed to make top 8

Only one betting agency has failed to resolve the bet - only give you one guess which

Cant get paid out on any top 8 bets in the NRL until it is finalised. What would happen if they lost points for some reason? Another salary cap breach? Just a thought.

Happened to be @ the tab for the 4th - Wanted to take a bit of the $ 11 offered on player for Oscar Wildly. My 200 e/w got knocked back and was made aware the max available was $ 33  Thought on a Saturday arvo, their limits would have been higher as they explained to Della previously........

This is disgraceful and completely contrary to several emails sent to me by Ben Pomatti in his attempt to explain Players perceived incompetence.

A few months ago i had a trifecta in the phone account which won. After 15min had passed after correct weight, i was on the phone to them asking why i had not been paid out and i was put on hold and they never got back to me.
It took them past the next race to pay me out, leaving me dry and not being able to have a bet on Joesready, which won @ $19 :(

I have also had the problem with the e/w bet needing to be the same amount.

I have also wanted to put $50e/w on a runner which had a max of $5e/w, so i had to fill out 10 tickets!!

Multi bets are a waste of time as they always come up with an error, and deductions on fixed odds is crazy.

Now I only bet local when Im at the track, or with trifectas, quinellas, ect and the occasional early market fixed odds.

You get much more value with sportsbet, with no deductions on any fixed prices, and you can practically multi anything with no betting limit on runners at a certain price, and they pay out as soon as correct weight is declared!

interesting differences in their limit exposure tried to have 1000 on jaw dropper last wed with 2 sep tickets at the osb pk tab price was 4.2 put the tickets thru error shut all the mach down temp .on rebooting was offered 400 at 4.2 then was offered 100 at 4.2 .price then firmed to 3.6 later at the track could have had what i liked at 4 with the bagmen.had my bets with 3 min remaining in cash and was paid in cash a big plus in my opinoin to the bagmen (although was prob lucky to collect) i think their attitude has changed somewhat and even though a weak midweek meeting you could get set for plenty if so desired.these guys know they compete more than ever these days we want them around (fri night trots are a debacle without them) so although i do have a betfair a/c i will bet local at the track wed and will be doing my best to relieve them of some bundles!!! the bookies still offer the zing in going to the track lets hear some more positive stuff for the bagmen D

They are never up on a Tuesday. They go up Wednesday morning. Not long after IAS, Sportsbet and UniTAB follow.
  • Im pretty sure they have been opening 3-4 races on a Tuesday arvo for a little while now

and regardless PLAYER is a service for WA punters so why do we not get a service for WA races yet we get Eastern States options

How does that help our local industry??
