Legless that's a terrible call. I'm impartial but that was a classic finals game intensity wise and the eagles took it to a level the hawks couldn't handle.

He will regret that call. Imagine if he wants to gloat about a Freo GF win and everyone on here saying if you're not a freo fan it's an average spectacle?

Huh??? it was a belting, the Wankles absolutely smacked them- a clinic as someone said.

I'm not a huge AFL fan - league is my poison of choice, and that was average game of sport to watch - a one sided affair

    Each to their own though

=)) dead right =)) - most of my 3000 odd post have been in the sports sections - not too hard to get a bite =))

I am a dockers fan and unlike the wankles crew am with them through good times and bad.

Does not surprise me at all that the wankles faithful have all of a sudden found their loud foul mouths again :))

Just arrived in Bussleton after 2.5 hrs in mostly rain. Couldn't hear the radio going into the last qtr. the game sounded one sided but don't really care, real game is tomorrow afternoon

  • Hawks were average because of the intense pressure the Eagles put on them. Classic finals intensity and the experienced Hawks didn't handle it. I was wrong and thought the Hawks would win even prior to Priddis pulling out. Backed the Hawks but the Eagles were far to clean with the footy under pressure.

Eagles supporters would have enjoyed the game particularly as the underdogs.

Hawthorn have not been as invincible as the media has suggested all season.

Tipped the eagles by a greater margin than which they won by ( mongrels cost me again). Thought it would be a hiding either way and IMHO WC are the best side in the comp at the moment.

Still a few weeks to go - tomorrow will tell where the mighty dockers are at.

Unfortunately wont see it and be here to enjoy the banter ( read caning if we get flogged or silence if we win) as will be at the local league GF at Burnett Park - caaaarn the roosters

Stated Eagles wouldn't make the top 8 and have scoffed on humble pie recently. Lost $100 to a mate in the process but fortunately won$100 with another mate due to Richmond finishing top 8.

Unbelievable performance by the Eagles, their pressure on Hawthorn throughout was amazing, how much adversity can one side overcome, phenomenal effort.
Lots of very sore boys though from that game, poor McGovern is really struggling with that shoulder but he battled manfully and won some crucial contests, backline was incredible again, Wellingham outstanding all night as was Sheppard.
That solo effort of his in the final quarter I think it was drew a standing ovation from the crowd when he stopped an almost certain goal in a 2 on 1 against him.
Ellis very good, as well, just a fantastic team effort. Never been happier to be wrong about my pre game concerns, you notice they kept McGinnity on the bench for as long as possible that was no coincidence, Scott Selwood stood up on a number of occasions as well when it really mattered.

Not much doubt now that our best footy is the best around, only injuries can stop us :)

oh and credit where credit is due Josh Hill very good again tonight.

That's five players below who were unavailable tonight who all get a game long before McGinnity is contemplated being selected that's without going into the fact that our backup ruckman Lycett is gone for the season, McInnes gone for the season Brown and Mackenzie long gone for the season so no ruck back up and no tall defender back up other than a kid in Barrass who's a real talent but way too physically immature to be expected to effectively hold a down a key defensive post in possibly his third or 4th career game in a preliminary final or Grand Final.

Can't win it without McGovern and Schofield both being out there as McGovern despite still being at less than half rat power still had a strong presence. crashed a number of packs and spoiled well and won a number of crucial contests as did Schofield.

Oh and Wellingham playing with a crack in his ankle and Cripps with a possible groin strain out of tonight according to 6PR during the match.

So yes, the Eagles are walking on a knifes edge as far as injuries go but it's the only thing can stop them now.

Still, am more than happy with my 11 bucks for the flag :)

    Matt Priddis Quad strain
    Chris Masten Hamstring Test
    Simon Tunbridge Shoulder Season
    Brant Colledge Knee Test
    Liam Duggan Knee Season

I agree mate but eagles really took the foot of the gas at the beginning of the 4th qtr, you can't afford to do that against a team like hawthorn and not in a GF regardless how big your margin is, hawks who can attack easily and put on 2-3 goals in a couple minutes.. They're just lucky they got a couple goals back midway through the last the stop that momentum the hawks had
  • AndrewCarterAndrewCarter    2,171 posts
Lucky??? They sat on the lead for ten minutes of the final quarter then when it got serious they clicked up a gear again, they clearly played the better footy all night and final margin seriously flattered the Hawks who were comprehensively outplayed.

the "roll of the green" went their way and they were good enough to take it and put the hawks to the sword. Conversely when the chinks were thee the hawks did not take advantage from what I saw (about 1/2 the game). Still think the MIGHTY DOCKERS in flying form will belt them

Dockers will improve (but nowhere near enough) and will still be lucky if they can sneak past Sydney tomorrow (and they won't in my opinion) and are the least of the Eagles worries.

How much did your mob get thrashed by the hawks again??? Yet in your own words, the Eagles got the roll of the green, now that's funny and an interesting way to describe a systematic dismantling of the reigning premiers of the last two years.
